CM launches state wide Polio vaccination campaign
Chief Minister Mr. Vijaybhai Rupani launched a state-wide polio vaccination campaign by administering two-drops of polio vaccine to tiny-torts at the Community Hall of Ministerial Residential Complex in Gandhinagar, today. As an effective result of the campaign, Gujarat has not registered a single case of polio in last one decade.
To make Gujarat polio-free, the Chief Minister urged the parents to ensure that each child should be given polio vaccination till the age of five. Minister of state for Health Mr. Kishorebhai Kanani and Health Commission Mrs. Jayanti Ravi were also present on the occasion.
In the state wide campaign over 85-lakh children, up to age of five years, would be covered for the polio vaccination. To achieve it as many as 37,503 booths and 7501 supervision teams, consisting of 1.71 lakh employees, has given their services. Besides this, to cover the interior and coastal areas as many as 3,549 mobile teams had also administered polio vaccine drops.
The Chief Minister also spoke about the 5th round of ‘Saghan Mission Indradhanush’ under which pregnant mothers and child up to the age of two years would be covered between March 18 and 24. This mission was launched by Prime Minister Mr. Narendrabhai Modi from his native place ‘Vadnagar’ on October 8. In the previous four rounds of the mission, so far, 195,600 children and 43,327 pregnant mothers were covered. The mission is being directly monitored by the Prime Minister’s Office.
