CM reviews work-progress made in first phase of Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project
To review the work-progress made in the first phase of Metro Rail Project being set up in Ahmedabad city, Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Vijaybhai Rupani held a high level all-round review meeting in Gandhinagar, today.
In the meeting, Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation’s (GMRC) Managing Director Mr. S. S. Rathore had briefed the Chief Minister that during the first phase of the Metro Rail, in total covering a distance of 43.03 km (including underground route of 6.5 km) total expense of Rs. 12787-Crore is estimated. Mr. Rupani also gathered information that during the first phase in total 32 stations and two depots are going to be built.
The high-level meeting was also attended by Chief Principal Secretary Mr. Kailashnathan, Mr. M. K. Das, Additional Chief Secretary (Urban Development), Mr. Vijay Nehra, Commissioner of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), and senior officials of the GMRC and Gujarat Government.
The Chief Minister had also collected information about ongoing construction of wayed-cut, segment and track in the project. He had also made deliberation about the works being undertaken for Vastral Gam – Apparel Park in Eastern corridor, Apparel Park – Kalupur and Shahpur in Underground corridor, and Thaltej Gam to Stadium in East-West corridor and others.
During the meeting, Mr. Rupani had also instructed to hold review meetings at regular intervals to coordinate between Metro Rail Corporation and AMC for smooth acquisition of land and rehabilitations of the people affected by the project. He also instructed that the roads affected by the project should also be repaired on priority basis.
It should be noted that in the meeting it was also informed that the stretch of 8.41 km long road affected by the project was restored on priority basis.
The Chief Minister also instructed that the project must be completed within stipulated time frame.
