Guj CM Vijaybhai Rupani performs Pahind Vidhi, flags off 142nd Rath Yatra
Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani performed ‘pahind vidhi’ ritual by sweeping the gold ‘savarni’ for the third consecutive time to mark the beginning of the traditional 142nd Lord Jagannath’s Rath Yatra amidst thousands of devotees chanting ‘Jai Ranchhod, Makhan Chor from the historic Jagannath temple here today.
Deputy Chief Minister Nitinbhai Patel also joined the ritual with religious fervor.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Rupani said that Lord Jagannath’s chariot procession will return to the temple in the evening after meandering its way through the streets of Ahmedabad, a glimpse of the Lord to the devotees. He invoked the blessings of the Lord for peace, prosperity and safety of the people of the state.
He said that Lord Jagannath’s Rath Yatra is taken out with éclat and enthusiasm at several places in the state. He expressed happiness at the tradition is being celebrated as a festival.
Mr. Rupani also extended his greetings to all the Kuchchi people on the occasion of Kuchchi New Year, Asadhi Bij, today.
Those present on the occasion included by Minister of State for Home Pradeepsinh Jadeja, Minister of State Vibhavariben Dave, Jagannath temple’s Mahant Dilipdasji Maharaj and others.
