Gandhinagar, 29 December 2023: Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel has made a significant decision to confer municipality status upon Waghodia in Vadodara District. Alongside Waghodia, which is near Vadodara Municipal Corporation, the Gram Panchayats of Madodhar and Timbi will be consolidated to form the new Waghodia municipality. These Gram Panchayats, namely Waghodia, Madodhar, and Timbi, are situated near the well-established Waghodia Road of Vadodara Municipal Corporation. Moreover, this region is home to notable industries, GIDCs, and educational institutions.

Considering the rapid pace of development, Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel has approved the proposal put forth by the Urban Development Department to establish Waghodia as a municipality. Following constitutional provisions, the State Government has the authority to integrate Gram Panchayats and outgrowth areas into municipalities, taking into account factors such as population, population density, income of the local area, and geographical considerations.

In this context, the proposal from the Urban Development and Urban Housing Department was presented to the Chief Minister, supported by favourable recommendations from the Regional Commissioner of Municipalities-Vadodara Zone, Vadodara District Collector, and Vadodara Municipal Commissioner. With Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel endorsing the proposal to establish Waghodia as a new municipality, the region will get a range of urban amenities, leading to a substantial improvement in the overall quality of life. This decision is expected to yield extensive benefits and enhance the ease of living in the area.
