Farmer narrate success stories to PM Narendra Modi and Israel’s PM Benjamin

Progressive farmers of Gujarat reap huge benefits from Vadrad Centre of Excellence for Vegetables built as Indo-Israeli venture in Sabarkantha district 

Progressive farmers of Gujarat, trained at the Vadrad Centre of Excellence for Vegetables, narrated their success stories of ‘protected farming’ to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu who visited the Centre in Prantij taluka in Sabarkantha district today.

The two premiers appreciated the perseverance of these farmers in adopting intensive methods of planting saplings at the centre, jointly built by National Horticulture Mission Horticulture Department at a cost of Rs.12-crore as a joint enterprise between India and Israel.

Ghanashyambhai Patel of Mamroli village in Prantij taluka said he earned Rs.1.50-crore by growing offseason cauliflower and cabbage crops in summer on one hectare farm.

Mayur Patel, a globetrotting seed merchant of Himatnagar, started a nursery to adopt modern technology and earned Rs.30-lakh.

Rakesh Patel of Madhi village in Vijapur taluka earned Rs.1.40-crore on 1.50 hectare plot through soil-less cultivation.

Sarojben Patel of Motidau village in Prantij taluka earned Rs.10-lakh by growing cucumber and other vegetables on one hectare of land under greenhouse condition.

Kariabhai Vasava of Gangapur in Narmada district earned Rs.25-lakh from red pepper, brinjal, cabbage, cauliflower at his nursery.

Samirbhai Patel of Mamroli village in Prantij taluka earned Rs.45-lakh from 490 tons of cauliflower on 12-acre plot.
