CM opens Zaverchand Meghani Auditorium, Art Gallery-City Museum at Bhavnagar

    “Gujarat first state in India to organize Kala Mahakumbh at Bhavnagar, 485 win awards in 11 categories out of 1,400 participants,” says Shri Vijay Rupani

    Ahmedabad, September 12, 2017: Chief Minister Vijay Rupani felicitated 485 winners in 11 categories out of 1,400 participants in the first-ever statewide arts carnival, named ‘Kala Mahakumbh’, which concluded at Bhavnagar today.

    Accompanied by a host of dignitaries, he presented cash prizes and citations, held photo session with the winners and went round the stalls after the ceremony to encourage the artists.

    Speaking on the occasion, he said that arts is a god gift and Bhavnagar has a tradition of patronizing arts and culture, erstwhile prince Krishnakumarsinji was himself a connoisseur of arts. He said that finals were held at Bhavnagar after the preliminary rounds were held in Bhavnagar and Vadodara, both called the cultural capitals of Gujarat.

    Mr. Rupani also inaugurated the Zaverchand Meghani Auditorium built by the Municipal Corporation at a cost of Rs18-crore, the Art Gallery-City Museum built at a cost of Rs.9-crore and the Alang Area Development Authority’s new office building costing Rs.1.20-crore. He also laid the foundation stone of Akwada Lake Front Development and Multilevel Parking at Bhavnagar to cost about Rs.6-crore.
