Chief Minister of the state Mr. Vijay Rupani envisioned the SujalamSufalam Jal Abhiyan in order to increase the state’s water holding capacity through sustainable methods.
Providing details of the third phase of SSJA, Secretary to CM Mr.Ashwani Kumar said, “ 916 works have been completed and 4688 are under progress in 33 districts of Gujarat. A total of 23500 lakh cubic feet of water was successfully conserved in the first two phases of the initiative. 67,940 tools and equipments (14776 JCB, 53764 tractors and dumpers) have been used so far. 11,42,167-man days have been generated so far through works under MNREGA. At present, 73,59,222.91 cubic meters of water can be stored through the completed works under SSJA. The dug-out soil is being provided to farmers free of cost.”
