“Seven universities of Gujarat in-principle accorded status of Centre of Excellence to make a mark at international level”

The decision was taken at the state education department’s high-level meeting with Mr. Rupani in chair with Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasma, Minister of State Vibhavariben Dave, Principal Secretary for Higher Education Anju Sharma.Gandhinagar, Monday: Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani today decided to in-principle accord the status of ‘Centre of Excellence’ (COE) to the state’s seven prestigious universities so that they could make a mark at the international level in their specific fields. They are Nirma University, CHARUSAT University, Ahmedabad University, Marwadi University, PDPU, CEPT and DAIICT.
Mr. Rupani said an Action Plan will be prepared to provide world class infrastructure, high-tech, student-friendly classroom, best faculty, laboratories, library, hostel and adopt best practices. This will result in improved standard of teaching, research, innovation and start-ups, and international-level exchanges.
He said the heads of these seven universities will meet within a week with Mr. Chudasama in chair to prepare the Action Plan after studying India’s Top Ten and World’s Top Ten universities. They will submit the report in two weeks.
Others present at the meeting included Chief Minister’ Secretary Ashwini Kumar, Vice-Chancellors or Heads of the seven universities and senior officers of the department.
