Gandhinagar, Thursday: Australian High Commissioner to India Mr.Barry O’Farrell paid courtesy visit to Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Bhupendra Patel herein Gandhinagar today.
Chief Minister expressed his eagerness to move forward and further strengthen Australia-Gujarat relation in the fields of trade, industry, education and unconventional energy. He also expressed his commitment to realize Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi dream of self-reliant India.
Mr. Patel requested the Australian High Commissioner to pay a special visit to the Statue of Unity, which was constructed as a result of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision.
The Australian High Commissioner, Mr. Barry O’Farrell, also held fruitful discussions to ensure that Gujarat benefits from Australian expertise in mining technology, electric vehicle battery infrastructure as well as hydrogen energy. He also discussed the possibility of setting up Australian universities in Gujarat in the context of the new opportunities available under India’s new National Education Policy.
Mr. Patel referring to Australia’s participation in the series of Vibrant Summits which has become a global identity of Gujarat, also extended an invitation to join the upcoming Vibrant Summit-2022.
The Australian High Commissioner invited the Chief Minister to visit Australia.
Consul General of Australia in Mumbai Mr. Peter Truswell, Chief Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Mr. Kailashnathan, Additional Chief Secretary Mr. Pankaj Joshi, Industries Commissioner Mr. Rahul Gupta and Managing Director of iNDEXT-B Mrs. Neelam Rani joined the meeting.
CM presented a replica of the Statue of Unity to the Australian High Commissioner as a memento.
