Centre’s Senior Experts Team on two-day visit to Gujarat to monitor, review and guide on ongoing operations of COVID-19 in Gujarat

    On a request of Chief Minister Mr. Vijaybhai Rupani to monitor the performance, review, and further guidance to the state government on management of prevalent ‘COVID-19’ situation in Gujarat, a Central Team, consisting  of four senior members, has arrived here on  two-day visit Ahmedabad  and Surat cities from today.

    It should be noted that recently, following a request made to Union Home Minister Mr. Amit Shah by Mr. Rupani, Dr. Randeep Guleria, Director of AIIMS, New Delhi, and Dr. Manish Suneja had visited Ahmedabad in month of May. Following it, Mr. Lav Agarwal, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Health, Government of India, had also visited the Gujarat.

    The four-member Central Team is consisting of NITI Aayog’s member Dr. Vinod K Paul, ICMR’s Director Dr. Balram Bhargav, Director of AIIMS Dr. Randeep Guleria, and Mrs. Bharati Ahuja, Additional Secretary, Union Health Ministry.

    On Thursday evening, the team has left for Surat by an evening flight. During its visit to Surat, the experts’ team will also hold a review meeting with Surat District Collector, Municipal Commissioner, District Development Officer and the officers posted on special duty under COVID-19 issue.

    On its returning to Ahmedabad on Friday, the team, after visiting Ahmedabad city and Cantonment area in afternoon, will hold meeting with the officials of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. Later in the evening, the team will also meet Chief Minister Mr. Vijaybhai Rupani.

    During its visit, the experts’ team is accompanied by Mr. Pankaj Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary (Gujarat Revenue Department), who has been specially appointed for monitoring the ‘Corona’ operations in the state, and Dr. Jayanti Ravi, Principal Secretary (Health).

     

    On the morning of July 18th, the team will fly-back to New Delhi.
