    Hon’ble CM launches a state-of-the-art jetting cum suction facility van for periodic cleaning of manholes in urban areas


    Gandhinagar, Friday: Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel called for undertaking public welfare works efficiently for ensuring the holistic development of towns and cities. In this context, the CM said, “ Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s 9 years of leadership is a fine blend of Seva, Sushashan, and Garib Kalyan. Seva and Sushashan are interconnected and they can only become effective through more and more public welfare works.”

    Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel was addressing a cheque distribution ceremony organized by the state’s Urban Development Department where the CM distributed cheques worth ₹1512 crores for developmental works of Municipal Corporations and Municipalities.

    This grant is being allocated annually for undertaking public welfare works in towns under the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana initiated by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

    A total grant of ₹3520 crores is allocated this year. It includes ₹2874.40 crores for 8 Municipal Corporations and ₹645 crores for Municipalities. The first installment of ₹1512 crores which includes ₹1150 crores for 8 Municipal Corporations and ₹362 crores for Municipalities was given by the Hon’ble CM to the concerned regional office bearers and officials.

    Minister of State for Home Shri Harsh Sanghvi, Minister of State for Primary Education Shri Praful Pansheriya, MLAs, Mayors, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Shri Pankaj Joshi and senior officials were present during the event.

    Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel hailed the politics of development initiated by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi which led Gujarat to become a ‘Role Model of Development.’

    He said, “The state’s prudent financial management enables it to provide development projects worth crores of rupees, online services, and robust infrastructure for electricity, water, and roads leading to the satisfaction of people’s aspirations. Moreover, people are confident that the state government will provide them with better services and facilities in the future.”

    “Let us carry out the responsibility given by the people by providing quality work, for developmental works through standard procedures, and efficiency,” added the Chief Minister.

    He also advocated the increase of green cover through afforestation in towns and cities to effectively address the challenges of climate change. He also provided comprehensive guidance to Municipalities and Municipal Corporations for the judicious use of water, energy-saving initiatives, and prioritizing road repair works.

    He spoke on the importance of using advanced and effective machinery in manholes for drainage cleaning in cities. In this regard, he also inaugurated a state-of-the-art jetting cum suction with a recycling facility van designed specifically for this purpose. These vans will be allocated to the 6 Regional Municipal Commissioner offices of the state, based on their requirements, in the first phase.

    The CM motivated for creation of Aatmanirbhar Cities for Aatmanirbhar India through Aatmanirbhar Gujarat by utilizing the allocated funds to the Municipal Corporations and Municipalities for developmental works.

    Chief Secretary Shri Raj Kumar highlighted Gujarat’s urban development as a role model for others, emphasizing the foundation laid by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi which is being taken towards excellence under the guidance of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel.

    This year, Gujarat earned the prestigious opportunity to chair the Urban-20 under the G-20, a testament to its continuous urban development.

    Gujarat’s urban growth serves as a role model to create ideal cities, shared by leaders collaborating across a diverse field. Taking into consideration the next 50 years, the state government, with the vision of ‘Sauno Saath, Sauno Vikas,’ is determined to create ideal cities for the future.

    In addition to that, he also added, “Gujarat government is accelerating urban development through multifaceted initiatives, including the disposal of legacy waste, sewage treatment plants, utilization of recycled water, water storage, housing, renewable energy, e-city portal implementation, greener cities, and promoting Ease of Living for its citizens.”

    Shri Ashwini Kumar, Principal Secretary of the Department of Urban Development and Urban Housing said, “Team Urban is on its toes to construct high-quality infrastructure under the guidance of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel.”

    At this cheque distribution ceremony, cheques worth ₹1512 crores were distributed to 8 Municipal Corporations and 157 Municipalities across the state. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation received ₹426 crores, Surat Municipal Corporation received ₹348 crores, Vadodara Municipal Corporation received ₹130 crores, Rajkot Municipal Corporation received ₹103 crore Bhavnagar Municipal Corporation received ₹48 crores, Jamnagar Municipal Corporation received ₹46 crores, Junagadh Municipal Corporation received ₹24 crores, and Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation received ₹25 crores, totaling to ₹1150 crore. Additionally, cheques worth ₹362 crore were distributed to 157 municipalities of A, B, C, and D categories.

    Shri Rajkumar Beniwal, Commissioner of Municipalities Administration delivered a vote of thanks at the end of the program.
