    Gandhinagar, Wednesday: This year the state level celebration of Republic Day is being held at Botad. On the eve of the Republic Day, ‘At Home’ program was held at Botad under the chairmanship of Governor Shri Acharya Devvrat and in the presence of Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel and Chief Secretary Shri Pankaj Kumar. The Governor extended his wishes to everyone for the occasion of 74th Republic Day.

    While addressing the ‘At Home’ program Governor Shri Acharya Devvrat said that the nation is going to celebrate the 74th Republic Day with lot of pride as after a long struggle India got independence. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi the world leader during his tenure as the Chief Minister of Gujarat has established a new tradition of organizing the national festival in the district headquarters, which is commendable and exemplary. The land of Botad is the land of art, literature and culture. A part of Saurashtra, Botad is today moving towards a new tradition of development.He added.

    Governor further added saying that history is a witness to the fact that India is the only country which has not invaded any country. India, the preserver of spiritual culture. India has always adopted the approach of winning souls and minds but not land. He added.

    Governor further said that ,There was a lack of unity in the country due to which slavery lasted for a long time. However, since the freedom struggle of 1857, India became free due to the sacrifices of Pujya Gandhi Bapu, Sardar Patel and lakhs of people who fought for India’s freedom. Today is also an opportunity to pay homage to the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives.

    The Governor further said that India today is developing swiftly. India has reached new heights of development under the leadership of the Prime Minister. It is a matter of pride that India is hosting the G-20 countries today. The Governor appealed to the citizens of the state to resolve to be devoted to the motherland and said that the spirit of protecting the motherland should seep into every citizen.

    On this occasion, Botad district in-charge minister Shri Bhanu Babriya, MP Smt Bharti Shiyal, MLAs, former MLAs, State Police Chief Shri Ashish Bhatia, Botad District Collector Shri Bijal Shah, state government officials, police officers, Botad district and Disrtict Panchayat Members of the municipality, local industrialists, prominent religious-social leaders of the district and citizens were present.
