Gandhinagar, Saturday: The inauguration and laying foundation stone of Rs.140 crore development works of Rajkot Municipal Corporation and Rajkot Urban Development Authority digitally took place today in the virtual presence of Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel. On this occasion, draw for 690 houses was also done by the Chief Minister. While addressing the gathering through video conference Chief Minister said that A new era of development has begun under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The government is continuously working towards making life of people more comfortable. This development journey has been going on for more than two decades in Gujarat. Today this journey of development has brought some more gifts of development to the citizens of Rajkot.
The Prime Minister is committed to make India a self-reliant-developed nation through many such public welfare works from the politics of development. He has just given the Amrit Budget of this Amrit Kaal, charting the path forward for a self-reliant-developed and advanced India.
This year’s budget is the budget given by the Prime Minister on Saptarshi that is seven main pillars of development. The budget focuses on seven main pillars namely Inclusive Development, Development to the people residing in hinterland, Infrastructure and Investment, Youth Power, Green Growth, Capacity Unveiling and Financial Sector. Rajkot metropolis has covered the four issues of this Saptarshi budget – holistic development, development to the end of the people, infrastructure and investment, green growth in today’s launch of development works.

Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel further said, Whether urban or rural, every person has a dream of owning a house. When food, clothing and hosuing are the basic needs, Prime Minister Shri Narendrabhai has started the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana to provide housing to all. In this year’s budget, an additional 79 thousand crore rupees have been allocated for PMAY with an increase of 66 percent. As a result of this, lakhs of needy people of the country will get affordable housing. In Gujarat, we have built more than 10 lakh houses under PMAY and have given more than 7 lakh to the beneficiaries. In Rajkot metropolis, 590 more EWS and 100 LIG houses have been drawn and houses have been given to the beneficiaries.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel proudly said that India has become the fifth largest economy in the world under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The Prime Minister has set an aim for India to be in the forefront of economic superpowers, cities and towns with world-class infrastructure. We have facilitated urban infrastructure in Gujarat by progressively increasing urban wellness works under his guidance. India has got the opportunity to be the host of G-20 and 15 of its meetings and the meetings of Urban-20 are to be held in Gujarat. This G-20 will be an opportunity to showcase the urban infrastructure of our cities to the countries of the world.
Today with the launch of infrastructure works like fly over and ring road development worth Rs. 105 crore Rajkot city and RUDA( Rajkot Urban Development Authority) has taken another step towards the direction of development.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel said that The Prime Minister has motivated everyone to use non-conventional energy, green-clean energy more and more. He has advocated green growth in this budget. It is also our aim to keep Gujarat green-clean by using pollution-free, environment-friendly, green mobility i.e. green growth in urban transportation. Increasing use of E-vehicles is a great solution. Rajkot Municipal Corporation has put 50 e-buses into transport service so far. In the year 2023, more 100 e-buses are going to run in Rajkot. We are also expanding the battery charging facilities of this e-bus service. One more E charging station to be constructed in Rajkot at a cost of approximately 8 crores has been finalized today.
This government is constantly striving to make the life of the people of the cities more convenient, to increase the ease of living. City leaders hold conclaves to sit with the government and city authorities to plan, brainstorm and brainstorm development works.
Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Minister Shri Raghavji Patel said. Development works of Rs.140 crores are going on continuously to make Rajkot city, the center of Saurashtra, a smart city. The state and central government are working to improve infrastructure in the city. So the development of the country and the state has increased. 100 new electric buses are running in Rajkot. Bridges have been constructed at many places in the city to solve the traffic problem.
On this occasion, Smt Bhanu Babariya, Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Department, said that The Chief Minister is constantly striving for the development of Gujarat. The overall progress of the city is taking place. Many families of Rajkot are going to get houses today after allotment of housing.
On this occasion, Rajkot Mayor Dr. Pradeep Dove said, The people of Rajkot are getting the gift of many development works today. Many overbridges have been constructed to solve the traffic problem of the city.
Amit Arora, Municipal Commissioner of Rajkot gave a welcome speech on this occasion.
If you look at the launch of various development works of Rajkot city and the history, Construction of both side footpaths in Railnagar Main Road Popatpara at a cost of Rs. 1 crore also the new modern electric crematorium at a cost of Rs 04 crore was completed. The fly over bridge built at a cost of Rs. 28.52 crore was launched.
Draw for 590 houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas and 100 houses built under Mukhya Mantri Awas Yojana.
Also Gondal Highway to Bhavnagar Highway and Bhavnagar Highway to Ahmedabad Highway was inaugurated at the cost of Rs. 77.19 crore by Rajkot Urban Development Authority.
