Gandhinagar, Saturday: Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel while inaugurating and laying foundation stone for various development projects at a cost of Rs. 2,416 crores of Surat Municipal Corporation and SUDA (Surat Urban Development Authority) proudly said that, The state government has left no stone unturned to fulfill the dream of the poor and middle-class people to own a house of their own. The state government has constructed more than 10 lakh houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in the state, out of which the beneficiary families have already got possession of 7 lakh houses.
Alongwith Surat Municipal Corporation’s iconic main administrative building which will be country’s tallest office building to be constructed at the cost of Rs. 1344 crore , Chief Minister also laid foundation stone for developmental works worth Rs. 1560 crore and dedicated developmental works worth Rs. 808.53 crore in a function organized at Udhana Darwaja, Ring Road, in the presence of Union Minister of State for Railways and Textiles Smt Darshana Jardosh, Surat District In-charge Minister and Minister of Finance, Energy Shri Kanu Desai Minister of State for Home Affairs Shri Harsh Sanghvi, Minister of State for Forest and Environment Shri Mukesh Patel, Minister of State for Education Shri Praful Pansheriya
A computerized draw of 503 houses of SUDA constructed under PM Awas Yojana at a cost of Rs.47 crore was also done under the presence of Chief Minister, In which seven beneficiaries were symbolically given the keys for the accommodation.
Appreciating the developmental work of Surat Municipal Corporation, the Chief Minister said that Surat has done successful work when it comes to urbanization, sanitation and infrastructure. Dumas Sea Face Project and Ecotourism, Tapi Purification, Multi-Purpose Convention Barrage on Tapi River, Flood Protection Wall, New Gandhi Smriti Bhavan Auditorium, SMIMER ( Surat Municipal Institute of Medical Education and Research ) Hospital Expansion Work, Renovation of Schools and New Schools to make Surat a World Class City Development projects such as construction are in progress, and well-planned work is being done to speed up the completion of the projects. He clearly stated that the state government is always ready to help the Surat Municipal Corporation to complete the projects for increasing public convenience.
By stating Prime Minister as an inspiration of green energy, according to his vision of clean energy, the Surat Municipal Corporation aims to convert all buses of the city bus service into e-buses by the year 2025 to increase the use of renewable energy, the Chief Minister appreciated this initiative.
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has a dream of making the country self-reliant and developed in this Amrit Kaal of independence, while the state government is also giving priority to the well-being of the common people along with the development of infrastructure, following the good governance of the Prime Minister to fulfill the expectations of the poor, deprived, marginalized people.
On this occasion Chief Minister also congratulated the beneficiaries who got houses. At the same time, he expressed hope that the people of Surat will join hands in the journey of development. Surat has progressed and are always two steps ahead in all fields in the last two decades and has become a partner in the overall development of Gujarat.
In the beginning, Municipal Commissioner Shalini Agarwal welcomed the dignitaries including the Chief Minister and gave an outline of the development oriented activities of Surat Municipality.
The iconic building for which the Chief Minister laid foundation stone for will be India’s first tallest G±27 storey new office building of the municipality which will take shape in Surat.
The two state-of-the-art iconic buildings with a height of 105.3 meters G±27 floors will hold the distinction of being the tallest government buildings in the country, Which will be jointly used by the State-Central Government and the Municipal Corporation.
On this occasion MLA’s Shri PurneshModi, Shri Vinod Mordiya, Shri Sandip Desai, Shri Sangeeta Patil, State BJP President and MP Shri CR Patil, Mayor Smt Hemali Boghawala, District Collector Shri Aayush Oak, Police Commissioner Shri Ajay Tomar, Regional Municipal Director Shri Arvind Vijayan along with office-bearers of the municipality, leaders and citizens, beneficiaries of PM Awas were present.
