Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi initiated the Navratri Festival in 2011 to give global recognition to the Garba of Gujarat, while also promoting tourism with Garba culture globally.
The State Government’s Department of Tourism and the Department of Cultural Activities have organized this nine-day festival.
The highlight of the Navratri festival is the state-level Garba competition, scheduled to take place from October 16th to 23rd, commencing at 6 PM daily.
Additionally, from October 16th to 23rd, traditional Sheri Garba festivities will be held every night, running from 9 PM to midnight.
Thousands of participants will partake in Garba, swaying to the enchanting voices of Garba singers and the rhythmic cadence of musical instruments.
Moreover, every night from October 16th to 23rd, a beautiful Aarti ceremony will be held at 11:45 PM.
Starting from October 15th to October 23rd, each day from 5 PM to 12 AM, a diverse array of themed attractions including the Theme Pavilion, Craft Bazaar, Food Stalls, Anand Nagari, Bal Nagari, Sabarmati Ashram, Atal Bridge, Dandiya Gate, ‘Diya,’ and ‘Kalash’ will be prominently featured.
Various places and events that illuminate India’s historical, cultural, and religious heritage, such as the Four Vedas, Ram Mandir, Modhera Sun Temple, Chandrayaan, Tejas aircraft, glimpses from the lives of celebrated sports personalities, Nine Forms of Ma Aadyashakti, Statue of Unity, themed sites, including thematic tunnels, have also been arranged.
Stalls will be set up to encourage the artistry of Gujarat and its craftsmen. Through this medium, citizens will have the opportunity to interact with the unique craftsmanship of Gujarat and even purchase their products, providing a robust platform for craftsmen to sell their products.
The event was graced by the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including Ahmedabad Incharge and MoS for Health Shri Rushikesh Patel, Minister of Tourism Shri Mulu Bera, Minister of State Shri Jagdish Vishwakarma, Ahmedabad Mayor Smt. Pratibha Jain, MP Shri Kirit Solanki, Hasmukh Patel, MLAs, Chief Secretary Shri Raj Kumar, senior secretaries, guests, and a vast crowd of Garba enthusiasts.
