Chief Minister inaugurates newly constructed cath lab-cardiology department of Civil Hospital in Rajkot

The department constructed at the cost of Rs. 10 crore has advanced facilities for accurate diagnosis and treatment of heart related diseases

People of Saurashtra and Kutch will now get treatment for heart disease in Rajkot itself and saving them from having to come to Ahmedabad

Gandhinagar, 04 September 2023: Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel inaugurates the newly constructed cath lab-cardiology department, which was built at a cost of Rs. 10 crore PDU hospital in Rajkot.

With the opening of this department, the people of Saurashtra and Kutch will now get treatment for heart disease in Rajkot itself and will not need to come all the way to Ahmedabad for the treatment of heart disease.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana, it is the first time that such a cath lab in the state has been started in Rajkot at a civil hospital by the state government. This facility is also going to be available in Surat and Bhavnagar in the future.
The CM, with keen interest, inspected the facilities available in the cath lab department and received detailed information regarding the facilities and treatment provided to the patients from cardiologist Shri Mandeep Tilara.

It is worth mentioning that the PMSSY building of civil hospital in Rajkot provides free treatment to the patients of the entire Saurashtra and Kutch. The super specialty cardiology department which is on the fifth floor of the building is equipped with a state-of-the-art cath lab and 2D echo facilities, which is a boon for patients of Saurashtra-Kutch diagnosed with heart disease.
Diagnosis and treatment of all heart related diseases including Angiography, Angioplasty, Pacemaker will be done free of cost under Ayushman Card.

On this occasion, Superintendent Dr. R.S. Trivedi briefed that the treatment facilities will be available here including coronary angiography, angioplasty, endoscopic examination of heart vessels, devices to improve heart pumping, procedures to diagnose the status of stenosis in coronary arteries, diagnosis in the electrical system related to the heart.

For the smooth running of the cath lab department, a team including expert cardiologist, cardiovascular thoracic surgeon, resident doctor, medical officer, nursing staff, and laboratory staff will be working on duty.

On this occasion, Cabinet Minister Smt. Bhanu Babariya, MP Shri Mohan Kundariya, MP Shri Ram Mokariya, Mayor Dr. Pradip Dav, MLA Dr. Darshita Shah, Collector Shri Prabhav Joshi, District Development Officer Shri Dev Chaudhary, Civil Superintendent Dr. R.S. Trivedi, PDU Medical College Dean Dr. Bharti Patel including senior officers, Shri Raju Dhruv, Dr. Amlani, Dr. Chintan Mehta, leading doctors and staff of Rajkot Civil Hospital were present for the occasion.

In the Cath Lab-Cardiology Department: Digital Mammography System, Computerized Radiography Unit, TMT Machine, Cardiovascular Electrophoresis and Radiofrequency Ablation System, 12 Channel ECG Machine, OCT & FR Integrated System, High-End Echocardiology System, Portable Echocardiology System, Echocardiography System with Advanced 2D Facility, Single Plane Cardiovascular Catheterization with Digital Subtraction Angiography Lab, 3D Mapping, Portable Colour Doppler, 800 mA Digital X-ray Unit with Single Detector (Floor Mounted), Colour Doppler System 40, Flexible Cysto Nephroscope, General Surgery Instrument Set, Mobile C-Arm Image Intensifier, Intraoperative Neurophysiological Monitoring System, Tap Cystoscope & Optical Urethrotome, Neurosurgical Operating Microscope, High-Speed Electrical Drill System are installed.
