    Gandhinagar, Monday:  Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel inaugurated the state level celebration of ‘World Breastfeeding Week’ and ‘Nari Vandan Utsav’ from Ahmedabad. Various days will be celebrated throughout the state from August 1 to 7. Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel said that an educated and empowered woman is the foundation of a developed nation. A competent woman provides strength to the family and others in the society. He added that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has always shown a pioneering approach to women empowerment. ‘Saksham Naari, Sashakt Gujarat’ (Empowered Women, Empowered Gujarat) is the government’s motto.

    There are various women oriented schemes and initiatives, such as Matrushakti Yojana and Matru Vandana Yojana for expecting mothers, Vhali dikri Yojana, Sukanya Samruddhi Yojana for young girls, Saraswati Vandana Yojana, scholarships and hostel facilities for studying girls. In this year’s budget, an amount of Rs 4,976 crore has been allocated to the Department of Women and Child Development which is 42 percent higher, he added. He further appealed everyone to join the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan’ and hoist tricolours as part of the celebration of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.

    On this occasion, Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Manisha Vakil said that Chief Minsiter Shri Bhupendra Patel has fully supported us in ideating, planning and execution of celebrating this week. Government has implemented many schemes to make women competent and self-reliant. In the development of the country and society, women have major contribution, almost 50 percent participation. Today women are able to work and get work done. She further added that through Shakti Mela organized by the government, the talent of women is being recognized along with the development. The state government is fully concerned about the self-reliance and health of women.

    In today’s event, ‘One Stop Center’ at Sola was inaugurated under Nirbhaya Safe City initiative in Ahmedabad city. Also ‘Sankat Sakhi’ mobile application was launched. Also, a film Chuppi Todo Against Domestic Violence was screened. Apart from this, kits were symbolically distributed to the beneficiaries of Chief Minister Matrushakti Yojana and Annaprashan Yojana.

    Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Secretary of Women and Child Development Department, District Collector, District Development Officer, Director of Women and Child Development Board, political leaders and beneficiaries of various schemes, women serving in Anganwadi and others were present in large numbers.
