COVID-19 vaccination drive for 12-14 aged children starts from today
More than 22 lakh children to be vaccinated
Children between the age group of 12 to 14 years will be given two doses of Corbevax vaccine
Second dose of vaccine will be given after 28 days of the first dose
More than 2500 vaccinators will carry out vaccination operation from over two thousand vaccination centres of the state

Gandhinagar, Wednesday: Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel started a statewide vaccination campaign for children of the age group from 12 to 14 years from Borij Primary School in Gandhinagar.
As per the guidelines of the Government of India, this vaccination process has started in the state from today i.e.16th March Wednesday. In Gujarat, under this vaccination campaign about 22.63 lakh children under the age group of 12 to 14 years will be covered and vaccinated.
The State Health Department has 23.05 lakh doses of Corbevax vaccine available for this purpose which has been delivered to the cold chain point where It will be stored at a temperature of 2 to 8 degree centigrade.
Dosage of this Corbevax vaccine which is to be given to all eligible children which are in collaboration with Education Department, Women and Child Development Department and other concerned departments of the state.
Accordingly, the second dose will be given 28 days after the first dose of the vaccine.
CM interacted with the children of Borij Primary School who took the first dose of the vaccine and encouraged them. This vaccination drive will be carried out by more than 2500 vaccinators based at more than 2000 vaccination centres on the very first day. CM also interacted with the health workers serving in this vaccination drive. Moreover, he gathered the details of the dose and also lauded health workers for their meritorious work.
CM said that, under the guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, free Covid-19 vaccination drive has been started in the entire country and state from 16th January, 2021. Under his leadership, a monumental campaign to protect against COVID – 19 has been successfully carried out in the country, covering everyone by providing vaccine according to their respective age group. As per the guidelines of the Government of India, precautionary doses have been started for the age group of above 60 years from 16th March 2022.
9 months, 39 weeks after completion of the second dose are eligible for this precautionary dose. Not only that, the precautionary dose should be of the same vaccine of which earlier two doses of the vaccine which has been taken.
At the beginning of this vaccination drive Gandhinagar Mayor Shri Hitesh Makwana, Metropolitan officials, Additional Chief Secretary of the Department of Health Shri Manoj Agarwal, Municipal Commissioner Shri Dhaval Patel, District Collector Shri Kuldeep Arya etc joined.
