Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani today laid the foundation stone of development works totaling Rs.299.44-crore at a function jointly organized by Rajkot Municipal Corporation and RUDA at the Bal Bhawan at Rajkot.
They include garden, toy train, food court, gram haat and amphitheater at the new Race Course worth Rs.136-crore, 3-arm over bridge near Civil Hospital Crossing costing Rs.84.71-crore, railway underpass near Amrpali Gate worth Rs.25.54-crore and 496 housing units to be built by RUDA worth Rs.53.20-crore.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Rupani said the new race course is in addition to the one built in 2016. He announced Rs.2,000-crore is being spent on Rajkot Smart City Project to ensure it is ranked among the world’s top city. It will be ensured that Atal Sarovar has water round the year. It was during his term that Rajkot is getting AIIMS, airport, bus stand, courts and new buildings.
He said the government is preparing a long-term plan for 30 years, to take the state to the highest Happiness Index. Gujarat will be the first state to have tap water in every urban house.
Mr. Rupani conveyed his condolences to bereaved families on the deaths of Mr. Jayprakash Joshi and Mr. Dahyabhai Kelawala’s wife. He sought the blessings of Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Sanstha Mahant Swami.
Those present at the function incuded Municipal Finance Board Chairman Dhansukh Bhanderi, MP Mohanlal Kunderia, MLAs Govindbhai Patel, Lakhabhai Sagathia and Arvindbhai Raiyani, BJP City President Kamlesh Mirani, Rajubhai Dhruv, Mrs. Anjaliben Rupani, Mr. Nitinbhai Bharadwaj, Polie Commissioner Manoj Agrawal, Collector Remya Mohan and Railway Divisional Manager Parmeshwar Ankwal.
