Chief Minister pays floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti

    Gandhinagar, 02 October 2023: Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel paid floral tribute to Pujya Bapu on Gandhi Jayanti i.e. today, at Porbandar Kirti Mandir, the birthplace of Pujya Bapu.

    Referring to the Swachh Bharat Mission which is being implemented in the entire nation, the Chief Minister said that the work of maintaining cleanliness has been carried out with public participation under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

    People across India and Gujarat have participated in this Swachhata Hi Seva campaign on the eve of Mahatma Gandhiji’s birth anniversary. The CM also briefed about the fact that cleanliness is not a one-day task but a collective responsibility of all and this work should be made the most significant and permanent mantra under the guidance of the Prime Minister.

    Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel called upon the entire world to inculcate the thoughts and values of Pujya Bapu who inspired the whole world by adopting the path of truth, non-violence, and satyagraha. Mahatma Gandhi’s mantra of Antyodaya Sarvodaya has become meaningful in the nation under the direction of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the CM added.

    The Chief Minister also believed that we must instill Mahatma Gandhi’s thoughts through his prayers. Tourists who visit Kirti Mandir from all over the world also get inspired.

    With context to Atmanirbhar Gujarat to Atmanirbhar India, Khadi is being promoted in Gujarat to realize the thoughts of Mahatma Gandhi regarding how through Satyagraha and with the ideas of Swaraj and Khadi he laid down the path of independence in the country. In this context, the Chief Minister said that 20 percent compensation will be given on the sale of Khadi from today till December 31st .

    On this occasion, Minister-in-charge Shri Kunvarji Bavaliya said, Pujya Bapu’s life is his message. Pujya Bapu’s ideas and principles may sound very old-fashioned but they are still as relevant and inspiring even today.
    Minister-in-charge Shri Kunvarji Bavaliya further said that Pujya Bapu was a strong believer in maintaining cleanliness. Embracing Bapu’s thoughts and values, the visionary Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi started a nationwide campaign of cleanliness across the country on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Pujya Bapu. “Swachhata Hi Seva” Jan Abhiyan was launched to keep public places clean and tidy.

    On the eve of Mahatma Gandhiji’s birth anniversary, everyone did shramdaan for an hour.
    A true tribute to the Father of the Nation will be by maintaining cleanliness.

    On this occasion Shri Nirav Joshi and the teachers presented a prayer and paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.

    Minister-in-charge Shri Kunvarji Bavaliya gave charkha(spinning wheel) to CM and District Collector Shri KD Lakhani presented oil painting of Pujya Bapu to the Chief Minister.

    Everyone present for the Sarva Dharma Prarthana Sabha took an oath of maintaining cleanliness.

    Rajya Sabha MP Shri Ram Mokariya, Porbandar MP Shri Ramesh Dhaduk, District Panchayat President Shri Parbat Parmar, MLA Shri Arjun Modhwadia, Collector Shri K.D. Lakhani, District Development Officer Shri K.B. Thakkar, Range IG Shri Nilesh Jajadia, District Superintendent of Police Shri Bhagirathsinh Jadeja, Porbandar-Chhaya Municipality President Smt Chetna Tiwari, Former Minister Shri Babu Bokhiria, dignitaries including Shri Ramesh Odedara, Shri Prashant Korat along with office bearers, officers, employees and people from respective towns were present to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhiji.
