‘Ensuring Integrity Relations from Judiciary-Landmark Judgments on Anticorruption – Public Servant Misconduct and Related Aspects: An Important Publication Covering a Collection of About 110 Landmark Judgments Delivered from 1950 to 2011

Gandhinagar, Thursday: Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel released the Compendium of Landmark Judgments published in collaboration with Gujarat Vigilance Commission and Gujarat National Law University in Gandhinagar.
Entitled “Ensuring Integrity Relations from Judiciary, Landmark Judgments on Anticorruption, Public Servant Misconduct and Related Aspects” i.e. (Commitment to Integrity: Lessons from Judiciary, Some Landmark Judgments) this book will provide necessary guidance to lawyers, investigating officers, academicians and students.
Country’s first home minister, Shri Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, realizing the importance of public services and utility in the constitution of the civil service, took a new look to establish a legal framework against corruption in the country with two laws named Special Police Establishment Act-1947 and Bribery and Corruption Prevention Act-1947.
Taking inspiration from these values of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Gujarat Vigilance Commission and GNLU have published a collection of around 110 landmark judgments of various courts covering issues of integrity, prevention of corruption, misconduct of public servants and other issues.
This compendium covers 110 landmark judgments from 1950 to 2011, including 77 judgments of the Supreme Court, 26 judgments of various High Courts, 2 judgments of the Courts of Sessions and 5 judgments of the Courts of different countries of world. Matters like conduct of public servants, role and functions of investigative agencies, powers and procedure of special judges in areas such as corruption cases and anti-bribery laws are woven into this jurisprudence.
State Vigilance Commissioner and Senior Retired Civil Officer Smt. Sangeeta Singh, GNLU Director Dr. Sanjeevi Shanthakumar, University Assistant Professor Shri Tarun and Gujarat High Court Advocate Shri Aditya Gore have been important contributors.
On this occasion of release of book by the Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel, Law Minister Shri Rajendra Trivedi, Vigilance Commissioner Smt. Sangeeta Singh, Additional Chief Secretary of Home Department Shri Rajkumar, Additional Chief Secretary of General Administration Department Shri A. K. Rakesh, Director General of Police Shri Ashish Bhatia, Director ACB Shri Anupam Singh Gehlot, Advocate General Shri Kamal Trivedi, Public Prosecutor Manisha Lavkumar, Director Prosecution Shri Jagaroopsinh Rajput and Director of GNLU Shri Shanthakumar, Shri Tarun and Advocate Aditya Gore were present.
