Gandhinagar, Thursday: A meeting was held today at Gandhinagar under the chairmanship Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Bhupendra Patel with the Chancellors of all the universities of the state regarding the roadmap for implementation of National Education Policy 2020 for higher and technical education.
Addressing the Chancellors of the universities Mr. Patel said that, with the correct implementation of the new national education policy, Gujarat will become a superpower of knowledge at the global level. The new National Education Policy 2020, prepared under the guidance of Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, aims to establish a comprehensive framework for education across the country.
The Chief Minister had discussion with Chancellors and expressed his expectation and desire for everyone’s cooperation to make Gujarat’s education more prosperous.
Education Minister Mr. Jitubhai Vaghani said that the new national education policy will prove to be an important factor for the future of India. He emphasized that education should not only lead to literacy but also to develop a high level of logical and problem solving skills.
Mr. Vaghani also added that educational institutions need to have a warm welcome for each student, take personal care of them and have an inspiring learning environment where a variety of learning experiences are made available to all students and achieving all this should be the goal of every educational institution.
Minister of State for Education Mr. Kuberbhai Dindor emphasized on conceptual understanding instead of just examination-oriented study and said that, development of creative and critical ability is required to promote logical decision making and innovation.
The discussion focused on the speedy implementation of the National Education Policy in the near future. The Chancellors present at the meeting presented their views and suggestions and gave information about the functions of the organization. In-depth discussions were held on short term (0-3 years), medium term (3-6 years) and long term (6-10 years) action plans of the new Education Policy 2020.
Principal secretary of the education department Mr. S. J. Haider, Director of Higher Education Mr. M. Nagarajan, Director of Technical Education Mr. G. T. Pandya as well Chancellors of various universities, academics and high officials of the education department were present in the meeting.
