CM instructs for immediate arrangement of dry grass (hay) for cattle in affected districts

Gandhinagar, Friday : Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel conducted a review meeting with senior officials in Junagadh after conducting an aerial survey of the waterlogged areas, due to rains, in Junagadh and Gir-Somnath.
The Chief Minister also held a video conference with the Collectors of Junagadh, Porbandar, Gir-Somnath, Bhavnagar, and Rajkot to take stock of the rain situation in their districts.
Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel immediately conducted a survey of agricultural crops and houses in the areas affected by heavy rains and provided the necessary guidance for assistance as per the government norms.
The grass (hay) for the cattle of the Maldharis was severely affected due to heavy rains. Taking their request into consideration, the Chief Minister instructed the Forest Department and officials of the concerned departments to immediately deliver dry grass to the affected districts.
Expressing concern over the animal deaths in the rain-affected districts, the Chief Minister also directed the Maldharis to avail assistance as per the rules immediately.
The Chief Minister gave clear instructions to the Collectors of Junagadh, Rajkot, Porbandar, Gir-Somnath, and Bhavnagar districts of the Saurashtra region to take up the cleaning work on a priority basis once the rain subsides to prevent the spread of the diseases. He also instructed that this work should be done and if necessary additional teams of the health department should be called in from other districts, as per the requirement.
Regarding the damage caused to agricultural fields, the Chief Minister said that survey work should be carried out immediately as soon as the water recedes.
Chief Minister took into consideration the suggestions of the local MLAs and the reports and suggestions of the officials after the on-site visit and deliberated on the permanent solution and arrangements for disposal of the water that gets filled in the Ghed village.
Chief Secretary Shri Rajkumar also gave necessary guidance to the district officials in this meeting.
Junagadh Collector Shri Anil Kumar Ranavasiya, Gir-Somnath Collector Shri H K Vadhvaniya, and Bhavnagar Collector R.K. Mehta informed about the immediate relief & rescue operations carried out by their district administration due to heavy rains.
Additional Chief Secretary of Revenue Department Shri M.K. Das, In-charge Secretary Shri Manish Bhardwaj, Relief Commissioner Shri Alok Kumar, CCF Aradhana Shahu, Municipal Commissioner Shri Rajesh Tanna and other officials attended the meeting. Office bearers of the Gir-Somnath district also joined virtually.
