Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi launched the Vibrant Navratri festival with an aim to globalize Gujarat's Garba: Chief Minister

Gandhinagar, Monday: Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel kick started the Vibrant Navratri Festival - 2022 at GMDC Ground in Ahmedabad today.The Garba Mohotsav will be held at the GMDC ground in the city for nine days. In addition to it apart from the garba, many other attractions for the city dwellers have been set up by the Gujarat Tourism Department in this Navratri festival, including different theme pavilions, a replica of the Atal Bridge, food courts, etc.

Chief Minister extended his wishes for the longest nine day long folk festival that is Navratri and said that, because of COVID-19 today after 2 years there is a joy and enthusiasm clearly visible on everyone’s face as after a long gap of two years they will get a chance to play garba. Garbo’s are the distinctive culture of Gujarat.

Our Prime Minister and the supreme devotee and worshipper of Aadhya Shakti Shri Narendra Modi started the Vibrant Navratri festival with an aim of making this garba a global event. Another purpose of celebrating such folk festivals is to provide employment at the local level. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi during his tenure as Chief Minister of Gujarat, started the celebration of folk festival in the true sense by combining public participation with festivals.As a part of which festivals like Kite Festival, Rann Utsav, Kankaria Carnival, Vibrant Navratri, Vibrant Gujarat Summit have emerged as a symbol of Gujarat's identity before the world.

He further added that this year, this Navratri festival will be celebrated together for the first time at the famous shrines like Ambaji, Chotila, Pavagadh, Modhera, Umiya Mataji Mandir, Becharaji, Mata Madh, Khodiyar Mata Mandir.

This vibrant Navratri festival has other attractions and competitions for the urban people like theme pavilion, craft bazaar, Anand Nagri, Bal Nagri, food stalls, state level Garba competition, traditional costumes.

In addition, Chief Minister said that Navratri is the main festival for Gujarati people. The state government also encourages the organization of mass street garba to preserve the traditional aspects of Navratri along with modern arrangements.

One of the five Amrit Kaal resolutions given by the Prime Minister on the occasion of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav is the resolution to be proud of our ancient heritage, our culture and tradition and to preserve our heritage. This year the government of India has nominated Garba of Gujarat or the cultural heritage tag which is a proud moment  of our heritage.

The festival of Navratri fills us with strength and and we become dedicated in the works of national service. I pray that we all become engrossed in the devotion of Aadhya Shakti and become one thereby elevate the progress of Gujarat and India.

Minister Shri Purnesh Modi in his welcome address said that, Navratri is the celebration of the victory of divine power over demons and the victory of religion over unrighteousness.  After fighting with Ravana for 9 days, Ravana was killed on the 10th day. Since Treta Yuga in Hindustan, Garba is celebrated for 9 days and Dussehra on the tenth day. Since than Navratri festival is held to worship Mataji. A hallmark of Indian culture, this festival is a festival of entanglement in the worship of Mataji.

Gujarat Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel is committed to the development of holy pilgrimages.Holy pilgrimages like Ambaji, Somnath, Dwarka, Pavagadh, Dakor, Junagadh, Palitana, Shamlaji are being developed by the Pavitra Yatradham  Department of the state government. Rann Utsav, Statue of Unity, Nadabet, Saputara, Sasan Gir, Somnath etc. tourist spots are being developed by the tourism department of the state government. The government is determined to convert religious devotion into religious power.

On this occasion, Minister of State for Cooperation and Road-Building Shri Jagdish Vishwakarma, Minister of State for Tourism Shri Arvind Raiyani, MLAs, Members of Parliament, Chief Justice of the State Shri Arvind Kumar, Mayor of Ahmedabad Shri Kirit Parmar, Municipal Commissioner Shri Lochan Sehra, officials of Tourism Department and a large number of people were present.
