CM: 10 lakh people operating small businesses in Gujarat to benefit from Aatmanirbhar Gujarat Sahay Yojana

    In an effort to tackle the COVID-19 crisis in India and encourage people to become self-reliant, the Central Government led by Prime Minister Mr.Narendra Modi announced a Rs.20 lakh crore package under ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat Yojana’. Under this, Chief Minister of Gujarat Mr. Vijay Rupani announced the ‘Aatmanirbhar Gujarat Sahay Yojana’.

    Providing details of the same, Secretary to CM, Mr. Ashwani Kumar said, “The cost-free application forms will be available to eligible people from 21st May, 2020. They can be availed from 9000 designated places which include 1000 branches of co-operative banks,1400 Urban Co-operative Banks and 7000 Credit Co-operative Societies. The application forms will have to submitted by 31st August, 2020.”

    Around 10 lakh people eligible under the scheme will avail a loan of up to Rs. 1 lakh with a nominal interest rate of 2%. The loans can be availed without producing any form of guarantee. However, they must be repaid within a period of 3 years. The state government will provide a relaxation for paying EMIs for the first 6 months. These measures will benefit small business owners and people like barber, small grocery shop owners, street vendors, rickshaw drivers etc. The state government has earmarked a sum of Rs. 5000 crores under the same. Such visionary measures amidst the global crisis will enable the people to become self-reliant
