CM announces to celebrate Heritage Festival from 1st to 15th August, 2017 in Ahmedabad

Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Vijay Rupani announced to celebrate a Heritage Festival in Ahmedabad from 1st to 15th August, 2017 in Ahmedabad being crowned as India’s first Heritage city. He held a high level meeting with several departments of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and senior secretaries of the government in order to guide them for organizing this festival.

Mr. Rupani also announced to organize a Heritage Walk in all the six zones of the AMC by appealing to people from each and every religion to join the walk which will uplift the unity of the ‘Heritage City’. In addition to including voluntary organizations, heritage trusts etc., he also gave directions to organize essay and painting competition, one minute mobile film competition amongst school and college students to make this festival an inclusive one.

Mr. Rupani also guided on organizing a conference as a part of this festival which will feature archaeological experts from India and the world. He further gave instructions on intensifying the beauty of various monuments and sites through theme based lights and laser show.

 Mr. Rupani mentioned on making an ambient environment in the city which shall encourage people to go on a heritage walk and also talked about organizing heritage tours for the youth so as to develop an interest in them for our heritage places and familiarize them with our golden legacy. He talked about organizing zone wise heritage seminars in a way that would involve maximum participation of the public.

Mr. Rupani encouraged the officials to organize various programs related to culture and traditions, decorating and maintaining the monuments, keeping them clean and making people aware about the importance of historical monuments.

Apart from the places included in the world heritage sites, Hutheesingh Jain temple, the step well of Adalaj, Dutch home , Nagina wadi, Vora roza, Dada Hari ni Vav and Mata Bhavani ni Vav shall also be decorated in order to make a lively and pompous atmosphere in the city. Valedictory ceremony of the same should also be organized at Sabarmati Riverfront said Mr. Rupani.

Minister of State for Home Department, Mr. Pradeepsinh Jadeja, Minister of State for Sports, Youth and Cultural activities Mr. Rajendra Trivedi, Mayor of Ahmedabad Mr. Gautam Shah, Deputy Mayor Mrs. Pramodaben Sutariya, Chairperson of the standing committee Mr. Pravinbhai Patel, Chief Principal Secretary to CM Mr. K. Kailashnathan, Commissioner Mr. Mukesh Kumar, Principal Secretary of Urban Development Department Mr. Mukesh Puri,  Secretary of Sports, Youth and Cultural activities Mr. V. P Patel, Collector of Ahmedabad Ms. Avantika Singh, and OSD Mr. D. H. Shah were present during the meeting.
