Gandhinagar, Thursday:  While addressing at Gujarat Media Awards held at Tagore Hall, Ahmedabad, Chief Minister said that journalism has the potential to preserve history as well as to innovate. Mass media has the power to change public opinion.

Referring to the Amrit Mahotsav of Independence, CM on this occasion said that, we should become determined to take the country to new heights through the medium of journalism.  Further referring to the role of journalism in the freedom struggle he said that, Gandhian journalism played an important role in the Indian independence movement. Chief Minister honoured the journalists who have excelled in the various fields of journalism. Shri Kirti Khatri senior journalist and Editor of KutchMitra was honoured with Lifetime Achievement Award.

On this occasion well known journalist Shri Devendra Patel, Shri Ajay Umat, Former Chief Secretary Shri P.K. Laheri including dignitaries were present. The event was attended by a large number of dignitaries and students associated with the media world.
