10,000 water lakes of Gujarat will be deepened before monsoon: CM Vijaybhai Rupani
With a vision to resolve the impending water scarcity problem likely to be faced by the state, Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Vijaybhai Rupani today assured the people that to meet these challenges 10,000-odd water lakes will be deepened. The works of deepening water lakes will be done under the people’s participation scheme from May 1.
The Chief Minister said that under the Saurashtra-Narmada Avataran Irrigation Yojana (Sauni Yojana) all the 36 dams would be filled to their capacity. Beside these, cleansing of Narmada canals and deepening of check-dams in forest areas will also be done along with revival of 34 rivers. He was speaking after blessing 21 young couples of Lauva Patel community who tied nuptial knots at mass marriage function held at Mr. Rupani’s native village of Chanaka village.
Mr. Rupani also assured to the farmers of Saurashtra region that in year-2019 all the dams would be filled with waters to provide them sufficient waters and electricity for farming in the coming days.
The Civil Supply minister and BJP in-charge of Junagadh district, Mr. Jayeshbhai Radadiya also spoke on the occasion. Mr. Rupani also honoured local leaders – Mr. Hiteshbhai Suratriya, Mr. Maheshbhai Sawani, Mr. Batukbhai, Mr. Jitendrabhai Kotadiya and other for their contributions in uplifting the society. The occasion was also graced with presence of Sattadhar’s mahant Shree Vijay Bapu, saints of Swaminarayan Sect and others.
