CM awards degrees to students at Bhakta Kavi Narsinh Mehta University’s first convocation ceremony

Gandhinagar, Wednesday: Chief Minister Mr. Vijay Rupani at the first graduation ceremony of Bhakta Kavi Narsinh Mehta University in Junagadh called upon the young graduates to dedicate themselves to the cause of the nation with their sense of duty towards the society.

Founded in 2015, Bhakta Kavi Narsinh Mehta University awarded degrees to more than 30,000 students of affiliated 162 colleges in 6 different faculties, and awarded gold medals to 54 students including 43 female students.

The Chief Minister also awarded an honorary doctorate degree to Pujya Rameshbhai Oza, the pioneer of Sandipani Gurukul Ashram in Porbandar and a well-known Bhagavat storyteller, at the graduation ceremony.

CM said that Convocation is a centuries-old tradition of education in the Indian Gurukul tradition. Lord Ramchandra, Shri Krishna also received Shiksha-Diksha by staying in the Gurukul Ashrams.

Along with the universities to equip the youth with traditional Indian education system like Sanskrit University and Yoga University, Gujarat has also started sectoral universities quite timely for up-to-date education such as Forensic Science, Pandit Dindayal Energy University, Raksha Shakti University, Law University.

CM, referring to the Bhajan “Vaishnava Jan to tene kahiye…” of the poet Narasinh Mehta, to whom the name of this university is associated, appealed to the youth that, now, as ‘Vaishnava jans’, they have to work for the welfare of the society.

Education Minister Mr. Bhupendrasinh Chudasam said that Chief Minister Mr. Vijay Rupani’s motto is that Gujarat is not a job seeker, it is a job giver, which has started Gujarat start-up Student Policy for the youth. The education minister further congratulated the graduates and said that the examination till date was syllabus based. Now it will be unexpected. He called upon the students to participate in nation building.

On this occasion Pujya Rameshbhai Oza said that today students have the opportunity to accept their degree with a sense of dignified responsibility. Schools, colleges, universities together make us worthy and then awards a degree. Qualification is not only a certificate, but also a responsibility attached to the position.

On this convocation ceremony, Minister of State for Tourism and Fisheries Mr. Jawahar Chavda, Minister of State for Education Smt. Vibhavari Dave, Chancellors of different universities, Mayor Mr. Dhirubhai Gohel, MLA Mr. Devabhai Malam, District Panchayat President Smt. Shantaben Kataria, Range IG Mr. Maninder Singh Pawar, District Collector Mr. Rachit Raj, District Development Officer Mr. Mirant Parikh, Municipal Commissioner Mr. R. M. Tanna, Prof. Atul Bapodra, along with academicians, professors, students participated.
