Gandhinagar, Sunday: Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel today chaired a meeting with District Collectors through video conferencing to review the situation following unseasonal rain in the state.
The CM got the primary details of damage of quality of Rabi crops, damage caused to summer crops and fruits and other losses due to unseasonal rain especially in Amreli, Junagadh as well as Saurashtra-Kutch, Central and North Gujarat.
Shri Patel directed the concerned District Collectors to conduct a preliminary survey of agricultural losses in their districts. The District Collectors gave details about the teams been deployed to survey the damage including crop damage in their district.
CM guided the District Collectors to conduct survey in such way that no one is treated unfairly and appropriate action should be taken for payments. The Collectors at the district level should make advance planning including crop protection against the possible changes in the weather that the Central Meteorological Department has indicated in the coming days.
CM also urged to take precautions and safety measures to avoid human death or animal loss.
The Chief Secretary, while guiding the Collectors in this video conference, said that as part of precautionary measures against unseasonal rains, the measures to be taken for crop protection should be taken from the district level through Agri-Advisory in local media to ensure that the farmers are informed about the changes in weather on time.
Elaborating on the unseasonal rain in the state CM said that, 1 mm to 47 mm of rain has been recorded in 111 talukas of 27 districts of the state. There are mainly 33 talukas in 18 districts, where more than 10 mm of rain has been received. Not only this, there was unseasonal rain in 27 districts from March 5 to March 9.
Additional Chief Secretary to Chief Minister Shri. Pankaj Joshi, Additional Chief Secretary of Revenue Shri. Kamal Dayani as well Principal Secretaries, Secretaries and Relief Commissioners of concerned departments were also present.
