Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani today inaugurated the aero sports-2020, jointly organised by Gandhinagar-based Civil Aviation Department and District Administration, on 1-lakh square meter plot near the New Race Course-Atal Sarovar at Rajkot to the delight of a large number of people.
Speaking on the occasion, he reiterated the state government’s high resolve to link major cities and pilgrimage centres with civil airlines. This is to ensure faster development of a fast developing state like Gujarat.
He said the state-level 71 st Republic Day function will be held this year at Rajkot as part of the government’s policy to involve local people’s involvement in national festivals and instil nationalism among them.
The highlights of the show were hair-raising acrobatics by 800-kg lightweight aircraft and B- 47 helicopter flown by Pilot Nitin, remote controlled aircraft, parachutes, parasailing, aero modelling, fly past, sky diving and hot air balloon by experts, showering flowers from helicopter.
NCC cadets presented guard of honours to the Chief Minister. He felicitated Captain Ajay Chauhan, Captain Chandni and D.V. Mehta.
The dignitaries present on the occasion included Municipal Finance Board Chairman Dhansukhbhai Bhanderi, MP Mohanbhai Kundariya, MLAs Govindbhai Patel, Arvindbhai Raiyyani and Lakhabhai Sagathiya, leading citizens Kamleshbhai Mirani, Rajubhai Dhruv, Anjaliben Rupani, Collector Remya Mohan, Police Commissioner Manoj Agrawal and Municipal Commissioner Udit Agrawal.
