Chief Minister Mr. Vijaybhai Rupani today jointly awarded the state government’s Tana-Riri award for year 2020-21 to Padma Shri Awardee playback singer Anuradha Paudwal and Ms Varshaben Trivedi, who originally hails from Bhavnagar.
The winners were honoured with a cash prize of Rs. 5-lakh, a citation and a shawl.
The two-day long ‘Tana-Riri’ festival is being organized at Prime Minister Mr. Narendrabhai Modi’s Hometown ‘Vadnagar’ every year since 2003, with an inspiration from the Prime Minister.
The Tana-Riri festival is being organized with a view to keep their immortal music in people’s memory. Tana and Riri, two girls, were great-grand daughters of Adi Kavi Narsi Mehta.
The tradition to honour the accomplished female singers, musicians and instrumentalists was initiated since 2010 by the current Prime Minister Mr. Narendrabhai Modi.
The Chief Minister appreciated the invaluable contribution of Ms Anuradha Paudwal and Ms Varshaben Trivedi in the field of music; and wished them a good luck.
The event was also attended by Mr. Ishwarsinh Patel—Minister of State for sports and youth cultural activities, Mr. Pankajbhai Bhatt—President of Sangeet Natya Academy, Mr. C.V. Som—Additional Chief Secretary and others.
