CM Mr. Vijaybhai Rupani hand-over ‘PARAM Shavak Super Computers to 10 universities-higher educational institutions

    Chief Minister Mr. Vijaybhai Rupani today categorically stated that the 10 new ‘PARAM Super Computer’ (PSC) will play a vital role in fulfilling Prime Minister Mr. Narendrabhai Modi’s envision of ‘Aatmanirbhar India’. He was speaking at a programme of the Science and Technology Department.

    On the occasion, the Chief Minister had congratulated the winners of the ‘RoboFest Gujarat 1.0’ competition and the institutions that received the PSC and wished them “Good Luck”.

    Addressing through a video conference, the Chief Minister further stated that the entire nation has great expectations from the youths of Gujarat in the research field. He confidently expressed that through their new researches and innovations Gujarat’s youths will make utmost contribution in the public welfare. He also handed over the super computers ‘PARAM Shavak’ to 10 universities-higher educational institutions.

     He further stated that with availability of these 10 super computers, the youths of Gujarat would be able to make direct competitions with youths of foreign countries. Not only this, the super computers will also boost up the process of newer researches and startups.

    The Chief Minister also expressed a determination that with an objective to enhance and develop interest among the youths of Gujarat in the field of science and technology, a modern ‘Robotic Gallery’ would be setup at ‘Science City’ in Ahmedabad.

    Praising Gujarat’s youths, Mr. Rupani stated that “Our youths are not job-seekers, but have become job-creators”. For that purpose, we have institution like ‘iCreate’ that is only one of its kinds in the country. Besides that we have premier educational institutes like IIT and IIM. In addition to these, we also have institutions such as PDPU, NFSU, GNLU, Raksha Shakti University and others, he added.

    As a result of great efforts of the current Prime Minister Mr. Narendrabhai Modi, and when he was chief minister of Gujarat, ‘Ahmedabad –

    Gandhinagar’ has been established as ‘Education Hub’ of India. It shows the state government’s interest and importance in the education sector.

    Chief Minister Mr. Vijaybhai Rupani had handed over the super computers to these institutions: Gujarat Technological University-Ahmedabad, Government Engineering College-Bhavnagar, Institute of Computer Technology, Ganpat University – Mehsana, Marwadi University – Rajkot, Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology (DAIICT) – Gandhinagar, Parul University – Vadodara, Shankalchand Patel University – Visnagar – Mehsana, Silver Oak College of Engineering and Technology , Ahmedabad, Ahmedabad University – Navrangpura, Ahmedabad, and Institute of Advanced Research – Gandhinagar.

    It should be noted here that these super computers were given away by Gujarat Council on Science and Technology (GUJCOST) to these institutions with objectives to encourage and inspire them to make high-end researches and developments and Next Generation Learning.

    The ‘PARAM Shavak’ has been developed indigenously in India by the C-DAC for its utility in high performance computing and deep learning. For these purposes, it is consisting of X86 based Intel Processor, 96 GB RAM, 16 TB storage capacity, Nvidia based co-processing accelerator technologies and software development environment and other facilities.

     The ‘RoboFest Gujarat 1.0’ was organized by the GUJCOST. The event had attracted participation of nine students’ teams for seven different categories. These nine students’ teams represented various educational institutions such as Nirma University-Ahmedabad, Babu Madhav Institute of Information Technology, UKA Tarsadia University-Bardoli-Surat, KJ Institute of Technology-Vadodara, U.V. Patel College of Engineering and Technology, Ganpat University – Mehsana, G.H. Patel College of Engineering and Technology – New Vallabh Vidyanagar, Birla Vishwakarma College BVM Engineering College – Vallabh Vidyanagar, S.V.N.I.T. – Surat and Government Polytechnic – Ahmedabad.

    The five winner teams were awarded Rs. 5-lakh and certificates and two teams were jointly given prize of Rs. 2.50 lakh and certificates, and two student teams were given prize of Rs. 1-lakh and certificates by the Chief Minister at the Virtual Awards Ceremony. The robots developed by the winners will be kept for display at ‘Gujarat Science City’, Ahmedabad

    Those who spoke on the occasion included Mr. Harit Shukla – Secretary, Science and Technology Department, Mr. Narottam Sahu – Advisor, GUJCOST, and others.

    The event was also graced by Mr. Hemang Purohit – Additional Secretary, Science and Technology Department, vice-chancellors, directors, principals, members of the RoboFest Technical Advisory Committee, teachers and students of various educational institutes, and others. The event was also telecast live on ‘YouTube’.
