Gandhinagar, Friday: Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel laid the foundation of ‘Vaghrech Tidal Regulator Dam Project’ at a cost of Rs. 250 crore. Under the celebration of Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav, GoG has set a target of providing water connection to all in the state. At time when the world is grappling with the challenges of global warming and climate change, the state government is committed in strengthening its water resources by enriching its groundwater resources.

An e-plaque of ‘Vaghrech Tidal Regulator Scheme’ was unveiled by the Chief Minister. Apart from this Newly constructed railway overbridge at a cost of Rs 55 crore from the grants of State Urban Development and Housing Department through the Roads and Buildings Department above railway gate 108-109 in Bilimora municipal area was virtually dedicated by CM.

Addressing a massive gathering at Vaghrech CM said that, ssground water level in the state has risen due to a series of check dams, bore dams, Sujalam-Suflam and other multi-purpose projects, canal and pipeline network, Sauni scheme, tidal projects, water storage, irrigation and water storage dimensions. Stating that water has reached the farms of the farmers, he expressed the view that the concept of ‘Self-reliant India from self-reliant Gujarat’ would be realized.

CM Expressed happiness over the huge benefits to the 10 villages of Gandevi taluka including Bilimora municipality from the Vaghrech Regulator project. He added that South Gujarat is an area rich in water rich rivers, but due to sea salinity in the coastal areas, a situation of ‘thirst despite a well’ has been created. This tidal dam will be a blessing in disguise.

Considering water as the mainstay of development, the Chief Minister said that, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has glorified waterpower and linked it with manpower. At that time, the state government was constantly vigilant with the noble efforts of water management to prevent the problem of drinking, household consumption and irrigation water in the state. He also urged to adopt natural farming.

Governor of Madhya Pradesh, Shri Mangubhai Patel in his address said that, following the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Bhai Modi, the Government of Gujarat has taken into consideration the geographical location of Vaghrech. Stating that the sentiments and demands of the local people have been voiced for years, the Governor lauded the commitment of Gujarat Government to accelerate the development.

Health, Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Rishikeshbhai Patel said the government was concerned about preventing salinity in the town of Bilimora and surrounding coastal villages due to the monsoon tide. The Vaghrech project will be completed in a span of one year only. This will provide pure drinking water to 12 villages in the near future. A package of Rs. 1 lakh crore has been prepared for the development of tribal areas in the next five years.

Tribal Development Minister Nareshbhai Patel delivered the welcome address. State BJP president and MP C. R. Patil said that, Due to the continuous efforts for Vaghrechna Dam, this project will come true today under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel. The construction of this dam will provide clean drinking water to the villages within an area of thirteen kilometers. Separate plans will be made to make drinking water available.
