Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Vijaybhai Rupani today expressed determination that the state government would encourage the farmers to adopt 100 % drip irrigation system for the sugarcane crops.
Mr. Rupani was speaking at a ‘Khedut ane Sahakar Sammelan’ (Farmers and Cooperation Convention) organized by the Indian Farmers Fertilizers Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) in Ahmedabad.
The Chief Minister further stated that the farmers must change their mindset to replace the conventional farming with modern farming system. Through the adoptions of researches and innovations made by Israel in the fields of drip irrigation and agriculture, Gujarat would take the frontal position in the Prime Minister’s pledge to double the income of the farmer by year-2022.
Referring to his recent visit to Israel, the Chief Minister said that he had opted for Israel as he had desired to impart modern knowledge to the farmers of Gujarat to yield optimum crops with minimal water usage.
He also pointed out that for the farmers of Gujarat various plans such as loan at zero %, generating electricity through solar and others have also been chalked out.
Others who spoke included GUJCOMASOL Chairman and former Agriculture Minister Mr. Dilipbhai Sanghani, IFFCO’s Manager Mr. Inamdar, and others.
The occasion was graced by IFFCO’s MD Mr. A. S. Awasthi, Farming Director Mr. Modi, Registrar of Co-operative Mandalis Mr. Nalinbhai Upadhyay, and others.
