Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Vijaybhai Rupani launching ‘The Prime Minister Ayushman Bharat Health Scheme’ (PMABHS) at the Civil Hospital here today termed it as “Golden Sun” for the poor citizens of the country.
Criticizing the previous governments, Mr. Rupani said that so far the government was raising slogan such as ‘Garibi Hatao’ (Eradicate Poverty), but, in reality downtrodden citizens were kept deprived of all benefits because poor people were not on the focal point and focus was not made on basic necessities; as a result the gap between poor and rich had widen and balanced growth could not be achieved.
The Chief Minister further stated that only healthy society can attain new scales of growth. The PMABHS would provide health insurance cover up to Rs. 5-lakh to poor. The state government is also equally concerned for providing good health services to the poor, thus, it has implemented ‘Maa Amrutum Vatsalya Scheme’ which gives health insurance cover up to Rs. 3-lakh. Besides this, in case of road accidents, the state government is giving financial assistance of Rs. 50,000/- for the medical treatments.
Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Nitinbhai Patel added that the PMABHS will cover 10-crore poor families, irrespective of their castes or religious identity, across the country, including 2-crore poor citizens from Gujarat. Under the scheme, the government will pay premium to the insurance company. Of the scheme, the Central and State Governments would share 60 % and 40 % amount, respectively.
On the occasion, Mr. Rupani had handed-over the Golden-e-Card to the beneficiaries of the state and state government and Oriental Company had exchanged the copies of agreement made between two.
The occasion was graced by Member of Parliament Dr. Kiritbhai Solanki, MLAs, officials and others.
