    Gandhinagar, Saturday:  Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel performed the ground breaking ceremony of the buildings of the regional centres of Surat, Bhavnagar, Bhuj and Palanpur of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University, the only open university of the state.

    Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister congratulated the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University (BAOU) for its A++ rank in NAAC recently and said that this is a proud achievement for the state. BAOU is embodying Swami Vivekananda’s idea that education should reach the masses and bringing the Ganga of knowledge door to door in the state.

    Appreciating BAOU’s efforts to educate lastmen, women, divyangs and especially transgenders, the Chief Minister said that the university has moved with the times and is providing an opportunity to the people of the state through the Dronacharya Centre or the Ekalavya Portal. The Chief Minister also expressed the hope that education will be able to reach the people of the remote areas easily through the regional centres.

    The CM added that the importance of distance education has increased in the Corona period. Under the leadership and guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi there has been a lot of development in the education sector in the state. The state had only 11 universities 20 years ago; today the number has increased to 102. He added that the state government is committed to provide education to the youth who are brimming with energy.

    CM called on everyone to participate in the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign to turn the golden age of freedom into the era of duty and hoped that a university like BAOU will deliver knowledge to every corner of the state.

    Education Minister Shri Jitu Vaghani congratulated Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University for getting A++ rank in NAAC and said that, Garima cell has been launched by Chief Minister to ensure that no university of the state lags behind in rating and ranking. Under the positive approach, continuous support and guidance of Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel, many dimensions have been achieved in the field of education. State Government is committed to meet all the needs of the state universities.

    The Education Minister added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had focused a lot on the education sector during his tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister, as a result of which Gujarat has become an education hub today and it is hoped that Gujarat will shine in the education sector in the world in the future.

    On this occasion Chancellor of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University Prof. Dr Ami Upadhyay welcomed everyone and said that only with the continuous support and guidance of the state government, BAOU could get A++ grade in NAAC, for which the entire university is thankful to the Chief Minister and Gujarat Government. For nation building we all have to wake up through education and BAOU is committed to imparting education to the lastmen, deprived and divyangs.

    The poster of Subhash-Swaraj-Government Research Paper Writing Competition organized by Bharatiya Shiksha Mandal-Yuva Ayam and Research for Resurgence Foundation was released by the Chief Minister.

    Principal Secretary to Education Department Shri S. J. Haider, Commissioner of Higher Education Shri M. Nagarajan, Chancellors and office bearers of various universities of Gujarat, Saurashtra University, Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University, Bhavnagar University, Sardar Patel University, Swarnim Gujarat Sports University, Birsa Munda Tribal University, Somnath Sanskrit University, Kamdhenu University etc. were also present.
