CM presents Khel Pratibha Puraskar to Gujarat sportspersons who winning medals in the CWG 2022

    Minister of State for Sports, Youth and Cultural Activities Shri Harsh Sanghavi also attends the ceremony

    Gandhinagar, Wednesday: Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel honoured the medal winning sports persons of Gujarat who participated in various sports in the Commonwealth Games 2022 and made India and Gujarat proud in the world, by presenting them with Rs. 80 lakhs worth Khel Pratibha Puraskar in Gandhinagar. A grand ceremony was held in Gandhinagar by the Sports, Youth and Cultural Affairs Department of the State Government in the presence of Minister of State Shri Harsh Sanghavi.

    The Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel and the Minister of State Shri Harsh Sanghavi awarded Khel Pratibha Puraskar worth Rs. 35 lakhs to the Commonwealth Games-2022 table tennis team event gold medal winner Harmit Desai of Gujarat. They awarded Rs. 25 lakh to single event in Para Table Tennis single event gold medal winner Bhavina Patel and Rs. 10 lakh to bronze medallist Divyang player Sonal Patel. Pratibha Puraskar worth Rs. 5 lakh each to Yashika Bhatia and Radha Yadav, two outstanding women cricketers from Gujarat, who excelled in the Indian women’s cricket team at the Commonwealth Games.

    Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel inspired the players present on this occasion and said that the novel steps taken and incentives given by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for games and sports have increased the enthusiasm of every sports person across the country. People’s perception of sports has seen a flux and talented players from rural areas are participating in various sports. Not only that, India has now advanced in every field including sports.

    Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel added that the state government also stands by the players by providing them with advanced training, incentives and necessary arrangements to enable them to excel at the global level. The Minister of State for Sports, Youth and Cultural Activities Shri Harsh Sanghavi proudly said that this time in the Commonwealth Games, performance of Indian players secured India’s position in top-5. The players of Gujarat have waved India’s victory flag in front of the players of the world in this year of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav by their bright performance. He added that under the visionary leadership of the Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel, the government has provided various facilities for the sportsmen including increase in the budget of the sports sector, with the aim of continuously encouraging the sportsmen of the state and keeping Gujarat at the forefront of sports.

    Under the direction of Chief minister, Gujarat is all set to host the 36th National Games in the coming days and this sports festival is to be held during the days of Navratri thus the sportspersons of different states of the country can enjoy Garba-the unique cultural identity of Gujarat.

    Shri Ashwini kumar, Principal Secretary, Department of Sports, Youth and Cultural Affairs welcomed everyone with a welcome address and thanked the Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel for showing immediate honour and interest in presenting Pratibha Puraskar to these players.

    Vice Chancellor of Swarnim Gujarat Sports University Shri Dr. Arjun Singh Rana, Joint Secretary Shri Patel and talented players of various sports, coaches and sports lovers and families of the winning players were present.
