Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Vijaybhai Rupani released the special postal covers and postal stamps taken out by the Indian Postal Department on Gandhi Museum – Rajkot to mark the 151st Gandhi Jayanti at Gandhi Museum in Rajkot on October 2, today.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister categorically stated that these special covers taken by the Indian Postal Department would highlight the eternal values of Gandhiji and his ideology before the world; and relationship between Gandhiji and Rajkot.
Mr. Rupani further stated that the Alfred High School, where Gandhiji had studied his schooling, was in dilapidate condition, therefore we had converted it Gandhi Museum and set up it as a world class memorial with naming it as ‘Smruti Mandir.’
The chief minister said that Gandhiji had been advocating the principles such as cleanliness, upliftment of villages, women empowerment, and eradication of un-touchability and self-reliance.
The Chief Minister also congratulated the Indian Postal Department for bringing out the special postal covers and postal stamps to mark the 151st Gandhi Jayanti.
The event was also attended by Rajkot Mayor Mrs. Binaben and other officials at Rajkot
