CM reviews existing conditions of roads in Municipalities-Municipalities areas

    Chief Minister gives necessary guidance in a high-level meeting to carry out Repairing-Resurfacing and renovation works of roads

    Chief Minister:-

    • Officials should personally monitor the work for repair of roads and construction of roads
    • As soon as the rain stops, the road repair work must be taken up immediately
    • Basic infrastructure road repair work should not be avoided due to lack of money

    Gandhinagar, Tuesday: Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel has clearly urged to  carry out the resurfacing, repairing and renovating of the roads which are badly impacted because of the current monsoon in the metropolitan as well as municipal areas of the state.

    The Chief Minister held a high-level meeting in Gandhinagar today and took a comprehensive review of the need for road repair works to be carried out because of the current prevailing monsoon situation in the state.

    Minister of State for Roads and Buildings Shri Jagdish Vishwakarma, Minister of State for Urban Development Shri Vinod Moradiya, Chief Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Shri K. Kailashnathan, Chief Secretary Shri Pankaj Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary Shri Pankaj Joshi, as well as Principal Secretary Urban Development Shri Mukesh Kumar and Road and Building Department Secretary Shri  Sandeep Vasava and other concerned senior officials attended this high-level meeting.

    Commissioners of the eight Municipal Corporations of the state as well as Regional Municipal Commissioners shared the detailed picture of the damage and repair of the roads in the areas under their jurisdiction and the repair plan through video conference.

    Especially the patchwork of roads. The Municipal Commissioners made a detailed review of the works undertaken to make the damaged roads motorable, hotmix plant, additional manpower planning.

    Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel clearly stated to ensure that quality roads are built and resurfacing, repairs of roads falling within the limit of three-year defect liability are carried out promptly by the concerned people (contractors), the officials should continuously monitor such work and ensure that quality work is done.

    The Chief Minister also said that, The state government is by the side of the local bodies to ensure that such basic facility works cannot be ignored due to lack of funds.  He also reviewed the condition of state highways, national highways, major district roads and plan village roads with the secretary and senior officials of the road building department.

    The Chief Minister also suggested that the complete details of the routes should be made online so that the citizens can understand the entire operation in a transparent manner.

    The Chief Minister suggested that the road repair work should be carried out immediately once the rains subsides in the state so that the condition of the roads in the towns and cities can be restored by Navratri.
