Gandhinagar, Thursday: Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Vijay Rupani today had a sudden visit to inspect the areas of Ahmedabad city which are been affected due to heavy rains from Wednesday and Thursday.
Mr. Rupani today suddenly visited Madhumalti housing of Nikol area of Ahmedabad to get information about the condition of the families surrounded by rain water with Transport Minister of State with Mr. Vallabhbhai Kakadiya. They went in a rescue boat and had a conversation with the people regarding the situation due to heavy rain and instructed the system to make necessary arrangements including migration. He also heard the problems of the citizens by observing the situation caused by rain water in Chandrabhaga area of Vadaj.
Mr. Rupani reached the flood control room at Paldi of Ahmedabad and reviewed the condition of entire city and Instructed system to accelerate the relief operations. In just 12 hours Ahmedabad observed 7 to 8 Inches of heavy rainfall due to which water logging situation has arised. This year, Ahmedabad observed 147% more rainfall than the last year monsoon, he added.
Meteorological Department has still warned for very heavy rain, Army’s two column has been kept standby to reach the position of heavy rain in the state. Three teams of NDRF have been allocated and two teams will be deployed in Gandhinagar.
Chief Secretary Urban Development Department Mr. Mukesh Puri will continuously guide the system for rescue operations, relief and disposal of rain water by a camp in Ahmedabad said Mr. Rupani. Four officers who had served as deputy Municipal Commissioner earlier in the city would be sent on special duty in Ahmedabad. State Government will help to overcome the conditions caused due to heavy rain in Ahmedabad, he added.
Mr.Rupani said that 2 out of 8 under-bridges in the city have been closed due to heavy rains. The teams of SDR, fire brigade, police and administration have taken care of the rescue and relief work and providing aid to the affected people in the Ahmedabad city on timely basis to a very large extent.
During the meeting Ahmedabad Mayor Mr. Gautam Shah, Parliamentary Secretary Mr. Babubhai Patel, Senior Leader Surendrabhai, Principal Secretary to the CM Ms. S. Aparna, Municipal Commissioner Mr. Mukesh Kumar, Collector Ms. Avantika Singh were present.
