CM Vijay Rupani determined to make Gujarat Farmer as Global Farmer

Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Vijay Rupani today expressed his desire to make farmers of Gujarat as ‘Global Farmer’ through consistent development and food processing opportunities. Mr. Rupani expressed his determination while inaugurating Vibrant Gujarat Agro-Seminar exhibition here at Mahatma Mandir.

During his speech CM Vijay Rupani said that in agricultural country like India, main base of economy is farmer power. “Due to lack of agricultural vision of earlier governments’, farmers’ condition was miserable and depended upon imports. This Government has provided global export market to farming production with the help of food-processing, value addition, easy transport and construction of godowns. Government is committed to more than 20% growth in agricultural development,” said Mr. Rupani.

In this connection Mr. Rupani clearly stated that PM Narendra Modi led Union Government and Gujarat Government are aiming for agriculture welfare and budget allocation have been made prioritizing agricultural sector.

Mr. Rupani inaugurated ‘Growth Opportunities Through Sustainable Agriculture and Food Processing in presence of Union Minister of State for Agriculture & Famers Welfare Mr. Parshottam Rupala.

Mr. Rupani said that state agriculture rate achievement should go beyond 20% from present rate through scientific cultivation with the usage of Krishimela, lab-to-land and Kisan portal. He briefed about Agro Business Policy-2016, which has been declared to inspire the youth towards agriculture through modern inventions.

“As a result to encouraging policy, the farmers of Gujarat are not only producing grains, fruits and horticulture crops, but getting easy facilities at their door-steps such as assistance in food processing sector, intensive export of such products through value addition system, efficient cold storage and transportation etc,” Mr Rupani added.

Mr. Vijay Rupani briefly described about the 7.5% interest subsidy in new policy of agro business, loan up to Rs. 3 lakh at only 1% interest rate, crop protection under crop insurance scheme and 1% additional assistance to the farmers belongs to youth – women – disabled – SC and ST categories.

On the occasion Mr. Rupani launched mobile application named “Gujarat Sarkar Khedut Mitra” of the agriculture cooperation department of the state government.
