“Gujarat Govt to give 25% subsidy on medical infrastructure and equipment to build super specialty hospitals in private sector” – Chief Minister
Chief Minister Vijaybhai Rupani today announced 25 per cent subsidy to private sector and trust-run hospitals for medical infrastructure and equipment to build super specialty hospitals, in other than four biggest cities of Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat and Rajkot.
Speaking at Cancer Awareness Programme jointly organized by the Kokilaben Dhiruben Amabani Hospital and Divya Bhaskar Media Group at Imperial Hotel at Rajkot, Mr. Rupani said the government will incur the recurring expenditure of hospitals providing free medical treatment. This is to reduce the government’s burden on civil hospitals. Nearly 3.75-crore patients are treated annually in government hospitals.
Initially, he said, Greenfield as well Brownfield super specialty private hospitals are being built in cooperation with the government in remote districts like Dahod, Panchmahals and Amreli as per the government policy. The government has spent Rs.800-crore on Ma Amritam Yojna card holders, as against 55-lakh families covered under the scheme.
He hailed increased participation of private sector hospitals, non-government organisations and media houses in creating health awareness. He said the government increased the doctors’ retirement age to 65 years, and medical seats from 830 in 1995 to 4,000 now.
The Kokilaben Dhiruben Ambani Hospital Chairperson Tina Ambani said this hospital was started in Mumbai in 2009, subsequently started Medical Centre at Surat and Rajkot, in the wake of her close association with Gujarat. It has opened 18 Cancer Treatment Centres in Maharashtra.
Dainik Bhaskar Group Executive Director Bharat Agarwal said that his media organization has launched awareness campaign for cancer, neurological and children’s diseases.
Rajkot Swaminarayn Sant Apurva Swami fighting for de-addiction praised the son of the soil Dhirubhai Ambani’s family’s concern for the health of common man, as well as the Divya Bhaskar Group.
Mr. Rupani and Ms. Ambani presented gifts to four children survivor of serious diseases with toys and gifts of the children’s likings.
Medical fraternity present there included Drs Ram Narayan, Santosh Shetty, Rajesh Mistry and Babita Hapani, Deshpande, Nadkarni, Sevanti Limaye, Kaushtav Talapatra, Mohit Bhatt, Anu Agrawal, Gadgil and Shantanu Sen, besides Divya Bhaskar Saurashtra Editor Kana Bantwa, film actor Archan Trivedi and Sanjay Pandya.
