CM’s public-oriented approach to increase ease of living in cities and metros with improved urban transport facility

    With context to Chief Minister Urban Service Scheme CM gives in-principle approval for 35 new buses to operate, Out of which 13 buses in Gandhidham and 22 buses in Botad will be operational

    Benefits of Chief Minister Urban Service Scheme to Category ‘A’ municipalities in the state having a population of more than 1 lakh

    Gandhinagar, Monday: Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel has adopted a public – oriented approach to increase the “Ease of Living” by providing sound public urban transport facility to the citizens living in the towns and cities of the state.

    In this context Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel has given in-principle approval to two municipalities of the state, Gandhidham Municipality and Botad Municipality, to operate 35 new buses under the Chief Minister Urban Service Scheme.

    Chief Minister Urban Service Scheme has been launched in the state since the year 2018. 8 Municipal Corporation as well as 22 municipalities with a population of more than 1 lakh and which comes under Category ‘A’ have been included in this scheme.

    The state government has allotted 252 buses for 20 Category ‘A’ municipalities under Chief Minister Urban Service Scheme.

    Now, Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel has given in-principle approval for buses to operate for two more municipalities that is 13 buses to Gandhidham and 22 buses for Botad.
    As a result of this approval given by the Chief Minister, all the Category ‘A’ municipalities of the state have been brought under the Chief Minister’s Urban Service Scheme through which citizens can have easy access to public transport services.

    A provision of Rs. 290 crore is proposed every year for Chief Minister Urban Service Scheme under Swarnim Jayanti Mukhya Mantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana.

    Not only that, Under this scheme, 1250 buses have been added so far against the target of adding a total of 2864 city buses on gross cost contract model.

    Accordingly, There are 382 electric buses and 785 CNG buses in five municipalities ,Thus a total of 1167 buses and 83 CNG buses are functioning in 7 municipalities.
