Gandhinagar, Monday: The second convocation ceremony of Rashtriya Raksha University(RRU), famous as India’s leading national security and police university located in Lavad, Gandhinagar, was held today under the chairmanship of Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh and in the special presence of Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel. Apart from awarding 319 students of the university, certificates were also awarded to 3 fire fighters.
On this occasion, Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh in his motivational address to the students said that only a secure nation can become an ideal nation. The broad meaning of security is the protection of human beings, human rights and human dignity. To fully develop the nation in the Azadi ka Amrit kaal and to bring it out of all forms of slavery mentality – these two promises are to be fulfilled. During the next twenty-five years of independence, the security agencies will have to develop such self-respect out of a servile mentality. So far the history of the country being enslaved for years has been taught, but one needs to understand the history properly and draw inspiration from it. For this, the Minister requested to inculcate the spirit of national security by citing examples of national rulers like Chandragupta Maurya, Vikramaditya, Samudragupta, Bappa Raval, Shivaji, Ranjit Sinh, Ahom rulers, Chaula kings who protected the borders of the nation from foreign invaders for years.
The Union Defence Minister further said that security parameters are changing. Earlier the security of the country was considered from the point of view of only two dimensions i.e. internal and external security. The gap between internal and external security has narrowed over the past two decades. Nowadays, along with the development of new technology, the dangers inherent in it are also emerging. Due to terrorism, human trafficking, money laundering, cyber warfare, information war, etc., war can be waged from any corner of the world. Hence new methods are being adopted to fight the challenges of keeping the country safe from enemies sitting across the border. For the security of space, data, information, energy, mining, economy, education, etc., all the security agencies of the country and state have to coordinate and perform security operations.
Attacking the terrorist minded countries, the Defence Minister said that the countries that consider terror as their tool know very well that India does not tease anyone without a reason and does not let go of those who tease. Till date India has never fought any country, allied or charmed it, but inspired it.
Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi had resolved to prepare skilled manpower to face the increasing challenges in the defense sector over time, the result of which is Raksha Shakti University. Shri Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of Raksha Shakti University in the year 2009 and today with the continuous support of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Union Minister for Cooperation Shri Amit Shah, Raksha Shakti University of Gujarat has developed into a Rashtriya Raksha University at National level.
The Chief Minister further added that Shri Narendra Modi has done an unprecedented work in this field by combining the three important aspects of the law system, Defence, Power and increasing the security ecosystem in the country with many courses like Forensic Science Lab, and this university is offering Diploma in Police Science, Graduate in University Management, B.Tech in Cyber Security. This university, inspired by the Prime Minister, has become one of the universities in the country which is imparting education in the field of defense as well as providing the best training. RRU centers in Arunachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh are soon to be started during the current year. With the opening of this campus, studies on subjects like defense and policing in North East India will become very easy.
The Chief Minister added that defence does not mean mere uniform, baton, gun or security at the border, but protecting the society in times of calamity also comes under the responsibility of defense forces. While greeting the students, he encouraged all the young people who were getting their degrees and called upon more youths and women in the society to take part in internal security and protect India.
Shri Bimal Patel, Vice-Chancellor of RRU, in his address, said that this university is moving forward with the goal of becoming a global leader by achieving the vision of a self-reliant India by 2047 in all areas related to training, research, education and security. About 10,000 persons including security personnel of central and state armed forces, defense sector officers have been trained by the university. Apart from this, 400 officials from different 41 countries of Africa, Asia and Europe have received training in the institute. Rashtriya Raksha University has also started Public-Private Partnership.
He further said that the university has provided an example of women empowerment by employing 35 percent women employees. This organization is working towards collaboration to meet the requirement of 21 lakh security personnel for security by partnering with national and international private security companies. Raksha Shakti Schools will be started soon by Gujarat Government, the work is in progress. Also, about one thousand youths from Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand are being trained and 650 youths have also been given employment, he said.
