Denmark PM visits Garvi Gujarat Bhawan, New Delhi

    Denmark PM visited Garvi Gujarat Bhawan, took deep interest in developmental work and cultural heritage of the state, exhibited in Bhawan

    The vibrant state of Gujarat and Denmark are closely linked together- Mette Frederiksen

     

    New Delhi: Kingdom of Denmark Prime Minister Ms. Mette Frederiksen today visited Garvi Gujarat, new Bhawan inaugurated by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India in September 2019. Her visit to new Bhawan was to familiarize herself with the state to which Prime Minister Narendra  Modi belongs.

    The Government of Gujarat in Delhi had arranged a traditional welcome for her in the new Bhawan by organizing a Garba & Dandia Raas,  accompanied by traditional musicians. She visited the souvenir shop of Gujarat Handlooms and Handicrafts in Garvi Gujarat Bhawan. She took a deep interest in the scheme“ Sakhi Mandal Yojna” which was started during the tenure of the then Chief Minister Narendra Modi for women empowerment.

    This project was implemented to enable  poor women, particularly in the rural areas of Gujarat to improve their access to resources and consequently strengthen their livelihoods and quality of life. The Danish PM was also briefed by the Governor of Gujarat and the chief secretary, Govt of Gujarat, about pioneering work done in the state in energy and water sector during PM Narendra Modi’s tenure as Chief Minister.

    Along with Statue of unity and world heritage sites, other developmental work on Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor, Dholera Investment Region, GIFT city, solar and Green energy, were also shown and briefed to her by Shri Mansukhbha Mandvia, Union Health Minister.

    During the interaction with the Danish Prime Minister Gujarat Governor Aacharya Devvrat also briefed her about promotion of natural farming. Government of Gujarat has organized a special programme on natural farming to reduce the cost of agriculture to almost zero and in a manner that the yield also remains the same or improves. So far, more than 1 lakh farmers have adopted this method in Gujarat. The state government has planned to form 100 Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) which will help in marketing of natural agricultural products.

    In her remark in visitor’s book, she wrote – “It has been my honor to visit Garvi Gujarat Bhawan, Gujarat is not only the home of Mahatma Gandhi and Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but also, is home to many Danish companies. The vibrant state of Gujarat and Denmark are closely linked together –may future bring us even closer.

    In reply to a question asked by media persons, she stated that she had had a wonderful visit and that Gujarat is very interesting part of India. She said, she felt very special to visit this Bhawan because of Prime Minister Modi. The visit, she said, taught us a lot more about Gujarat. It was good to know more about fantastic cultural heritage of Gujarat. She said she was amazed.

    Mr Bo Tengberg, spouse of PM accompanied her during the visit of Garvi Gujarat. Denmark Ambassador Mr. Freddy Svane in India and other senior diplomats from embassy along with Shri Nagesh, Chief of protocol, MEA and Resident commissioner,  Government of Gujarat were present during the visit of Mette Frederiksen to Garvi Gujarat.

    Garvi Gujarat is an iconic building of the State Government in Delhi and a number of national and international dignitaries visit frequently to see the cultural heritage of Gujarat which is showcased in this building.
