Gandhinagar, Sunday: Governor Mr. Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Mr. Vijay Rupani participated in the cultural program “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” held at Junagadh on the evening before the state-wide celebration of 75th Independence Day and felicitated the freedom fighters of Junagadh district and the distinguished citizens who have contributed in various fields.
Giving good wishes on the Independence Day, Governor Mr. Acharya Devvrat said that the historical land of Junagadh is connected with the reminiscences of the struggle of ‘Aarzi Hukumat’ to connect Junagadh region with India. The Governor congratulated CM Mr. Vijay Rupani and the state government for selecting Junagadh for the state-level celebration of the Independence Day and added that on this occasion of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”, the people should be committed for the progress, fame, prestige and development of the country.
Mentioning that the land of Gujarat has given birth to great men-revolutionaries like Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Shyamji Krishna Varma, Narsinh Mehta, Dayananda Saraswati, the Governor said that Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel did a great job of uniting the kingdoms of the country and building a united India.
Expressing his wish that Gujarat becomes an inspiration for everyone, the Governor appealed that Gujarat establish itself as a role model while the country is moving forward with all-round development.
Chief Minister Mr. Vijay Rupani on the occasion of the 75th Independence Day celebrations at the state level announced Rs. 7.50 crore for the development of Junagadh district and said that the contribution of freedom fighters of Gujarat in the country’s freedom fight has been significant. Heroic figures including Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Madam Cama, Sardarsinh Rana have made a great contribution in giving us freedom, as a result of which we have achieved ‘Swarajya’. We are committed on this 75th Independence Day to move forward from ‘Swarajya’ (Self-governance) to ‘Surajya’ (Good governance).
CM said that the then Chief Minister of Gujarat Mr. Narendra Modi laid the foundation of development of the state. This government is committed to make Gujarat a role model of development by following his lead. Today, Gujarat is leading an all-round development. Gujarat is a leader in many aspects of production and development. This includes the efforts of six and a half crore Gujaratis and the strong will of the Gujarat government.
The Chief Minister, while appreciating the struggle of ‘Aarzi Hukumat’ of Junagadh, added that today Junagadh is an integral part of India due to the fights shown by fighters including Samaldas Gandhi, Ratubhai Adani, Pushpaben Mehta, Darbar Gopaldas, Suragbhai Varu and Shambhu Prasad Desai as well as due to the foresightedness of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Mahatma Gandhi.
In the program held at the Agricultural University on the evening before Independence Day, Governor Mr. Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Mr. Vijay Rupani honoured freedom fighter of Junagadh District Mr. Labhshankar Dave, folk writer Mr. Rajbha Gadhvi, historian Mr. Pradyuman Khachar, ‘Dhol’ player Mr. Hajibhai Ramakdu, Mr. Lalabhai Parmar and Mr. Devkumar Ambaliya in sports field, Mr. Parsottam Sidpara and Mr. Hiteshbhai Domadiya in agriculture field.
On this occasion, a cultural program based on a theme ‘Tara Naam ma o swatantrata’ regarding the freedom movement and the struggle of the ‘Aarzi Hukumat’ was held, in which more than 120 artists showcased their art. This cultural program was witnessed by the Governor, CM, and the people of the city. The Governor and CM congratulated all the artists who participated in the program.
Of the amount of Rs. 7.50 crore announced by the Chief Minister, Rs. 2.50 crore will be given to Junagadh metropolis, Rs. 2.50 crore to rural areas of Junagadh district and Rs. 2.50 crore for development of municipal area. On this occasion, CM presented cheques to the Collector, DDO, and Municipal Commissioner.
On this occasion, a booklet ‘Girnari Gaurav no Gadh Junagadh’ edited by the District Information Office highlighting the sights of the district and a booklet displaying the work done by the police department against Cyclone Tauktae was released by the Junagadh district administration.
On this occasion, lady Governor Smt. Darshana Devi, Smt. Anjaliben Rupani, MP Rajesh Chudasama, Mayor of Junagadh Mr. Dhirubhai Gohil, District Panchayat President Smt. Shantaben, Chief Secretary Mr. Anil Mukim, DGP Mr. Ashish Bhatia, Additional Chief Secretary for Home Mr. Pankaj Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary of Revenue Mr. Kamal Dayani, Additional Chief Secretary of sports Mr. C. V. Som, Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. Ashwini Kumar, Additional Secretary-Protocol Mr. Jwalant Rawal and other office bearers were present. Collector Mr. Rachit Raj gave welcome speech.
