CM and Union Minister of Civil Aviation virtually flags off Spicejet’s first direct flight for Bhavnagar to Delhi, Surat and Mumbai

    Major benefit of the recently announced ‘Vehicle Scrappage Policy’ will be available for Bhavnagar: CM

    Gandhinagar, Friday:  On the occasion of flagging off the newly started flight at Bhavnagar today Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Vijay Rupani said that one more milestone has been added for Bhavnagar today, domestic and international aviation network. Keeping in view Gujarat’s new heights of development, state has got 3 aircraft connectivity simultaneously by the Central Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi. In this context, he said, connectivity drives growth. Recognizing this importance, the state government has increasingly emphasized on connectivity to take the state’s potential to the world stage by developing airports and airstrip.

    Joining virtually with the Union Minister of Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia, Mr. Rupani said that, due to the efforts of Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, Ro-Ro ferry from Ghogha to Dahej in Bhavnagar and Ro-Pex ferry from Ghogha to Surat were started and now direct air service from Bhavnagar to Delhi and Mumbai is being started today.

    Bhavnagar was earlier connected by land and water, but now it is also connected by air. Thus, all the three types of transport services have become available in Bhavnagar. He said that not only air connectivity has been developed in Gujarat but also broadband and digital and connectivity has been developed in the state with rail, road, sea and airtrip connectivity. There are 16 airports operating in the state. In addition, two aerodromes have also been developed for sea-planes. The doors of development have been opened by connecting the holy pilgrimages of Gujarat and tourist destinations like Kevadia.

    CM added that this air connectivity will open one more path for the state at the national level when the citizens of Gujarat are scattered all over the world for trade, education and career development. He said that all the villages in the state have been connected with internet connectivity through Bharat Net to make internet services available even in remote small villages of the state. Gujarat is number one in the country in providing internet through Bharat net.

    CM said that Bhavnagar city is a very ancient city. There is a big business of ship breaking yard in Bhavnagar district. Apart from this, the major benefit of the ‘Vehicle Scrappage Policy’ recently announced by the Prime Minister will be available for Bhavnagar. Besides, the world’s first CNG plant is to be commissioned at Bhavnagar. Increasing air connectivity will increase the convenience for industrialist. The development that our government has made in the last 25 years is that the MPs who once wanted train connectivity now want air connectivity, he said.

    Union Minister of Civil Aviation Mr. Jyotiraditya Scindia, said, “I feel honoured to flag off the first direct flight operations on the heritage city of Bhavnagar to Delhi route. The city has played a vital role in the economic activities of entire Gujarat since ancient times. The city is an important center for the diamond cutting, polishing, and ship breaking industry not only for India but for the entire world. Bhavnagar is the prominent city of India where a blend of the symbolic initiatives of ‘Vocal for Local’ & ‘Local to Global’ started by our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, is found. Furthermore, the Vehicle Scrappage Policy will also benefit the people of Bhavnagar. Apart from economic activities, the city has its own rich cultural and historical significance. These new flights will act as a catalyst for the tourism sector of the region while aiding the trade and commerce sector of Bhavnagar.”

    Bhavnagar will now get six new flight routes. Due to the non-connectivity of direct flights from Bhavnagar to Delhi & Bhavnagar to Surat, people had to travel to Ahmedabad to board a flight, now, they can travel at ease by opting for the newly inaugurated direct flight services on these sectors. Flights from Bhavnagar to Delhi and Mumbai will be operational on all days except on Tuesdays and Saturdays, flights from Bhavnagar to Surat will operate on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays starting from 21st August 2021.

    On this occasion, Union Minister of State for Aviation Shri General Dr. VK Singh said that, Bhavnagar was also the center of trade established by Bhavsinhji in 1724.

    MP C. R. Patil said that we need to start more flights in view of the growing demand in Surat and expressed happiness that today Gujarat is getting three flights in a single day.

    MP Bhartiben Shiyal said that years old demand has been satisfied. He expressed confidence that this service would open up the development of Bhavnagar.

    Education Minister Mr. Bhupendrasinh Chudasama said that as a result of Vibrant Gujarat series, people from all over the world come to invest in Gujarat. As a result, along with the increase in employment, there has also been an increase in employment. Today, Gujarat is No. 1 in the country in providing employment.

    Minister of State for Education Smt. Vibhavariben Dave said that Bhavnagar is a cultural town. There are many temples here. Alang Ship Breaking Yard is located in Bhavnagar, the people of Bhavnagar had to go to Ahmedabad to connect with the world or parts of the country. Now the chances for connectivity has increased.

    MLA Jitubhai Vaghani said that, this is a new gift for Bhavnagar. While Bhavnagar is moving positively in the direction of development, this air connectivity is going to be of great benefit to Bhavnagar city and district.

    SpiceJet Chairman Ajay Singh delivered the welcome address and handed over the first boarding pass of the flight to the dignitaries. Union Civil Aviation Secretary Mr. Pradipsinh Kharola gave a vote of thanks.

    On this occasion Mayor of Bhavnagar Smt. Kirtiben Danidharia, Keshubhai Nakarani, RC Makwana, BJP District President Shri Mukesh Langalia, Central Deputy Secretary of Civil Aviation, Municipal Commissioner, Collector, DDO, district office bearers and Bhavnagar residents were present.
