Gandhinagar, Wednesday: For the first time in 60-years history of Gujarat, six athletes from the state are to represent India in the upcoming Olympic Games.
In the Olympic Games 2021 to be held in Tokyo from 23rd July, six women athletes of Gujarat have been selected.
Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Vijay Rupani has decided to provide financial assistance of Rs. 10 lakh to each selected athlete with the motive of encouraging this global achievement of women in the field of sports.
The six women athletes of Gujarat who will get the assistance of Rs 10 lakh each are Maana Patel in Swimming, Elavenil Valarivan in Shooting, Ankita Raina in Tennis, Sonal Patel and Bhavina Patel in Para Table Tennis and Parul Parmar in Para Badminton, who will compete with athletes from around the world at Tokyo Olympics-Paralympics.
The Chief Minister has also given best wishes to these six women athletes to succeed in the upcoming Tokyo Olympics-Paralympics. It is noteworthy that Tokyo Olympics-2021 will be held this year from 23rd July to 8th August and Paralympic Games will be held from 24th August to 5th September in Tokyo, Japan.
