Gandhinagar, Saturday: The country’s largest comprehensive school education mission ‘Mission School of Excellence’ is being successfully implemented with the inspiration of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi through the upgradation of advanced physical, digital and learning infrastructure in 20 thousand government schools of Gujarat.
Following the success of this mission and working with the noble objective of Grade Appropriate Learning Outcome in Government Schools, the State Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel has taken another innovative initiative to provide them with the quality of education of international level to the students in Government Schools.
The Education Department of the State Government has signed an agreement in this regard with the internationally renowned organization Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development OECD in Gandhinagar.
The agreement was concluded in the presence of Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel and the Director of OECD in Paris Mr. Andreas Schleicher
PISA – Program for International Student Assessment is organized worldwide by this organization OECD.
This test is conducted for assessment of abilities like critical thinking, problem solving and effective communication of students above 15 years of age..
Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel is committed to equip the government schools of the state to participate in PISA for the purpose of achieving grade appropriate learning outcomes as well as life application skill development and international level assessment of abilities related to reading, mathematics and science among government school students.
Therough the assurance of Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel, Education Department has taken the first admirable initiative in the states across the country to make it a reality through this agreement.
PISA Based Test for Schools PBTS will now be conducted in such schools to enable the students of government schools in Gujarat to participate in PISA in future.
This type of PBTS is organized by the OECD as part of the main preparations for the PISA test.
As a result of the agreement made by the Education Department of the State Government with the OECD under the guidance of the Chief Minister, PBTS will now be organized in the Government Schools of the State. Organization of such PBTS in Gujarat will be instrumental in making grade appropriate learning outcomes and life application skills of students of government schools of international standard.
On this occasion, OECD Director Mr. Andreas also praised the ongoing project of Gyan Shakti Residential School in Gujarat under the guidance of Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel.
He expressed confidence that teachers and students of government schools in the state will get exposure to global standards because of the agreement on PBTS done by OECD with Gujarat government.
Gujarat has achieved this honor of being the only state in the country to have an agreement with an internationally renowned organisation like OECD, under the direction of Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel.
On behalf of the Gujarat Government,Project Director of entire education, Dr. Ratankanvar Gadhvicharan and Mr. Andreas Schleicher and Mr. Kevin O’Brien on behalf of the OECD signed and exchanged the Agreement.
On this occasion, Education Minister Shri Kuber Dindor, State Minister Shri Praful Pansheriya, Primary and Secondary Education Secretary Shri Vinod Rao, Chief Minister’s Secretary Smt Avantika Singh and senior officials of the Education Department were present on this agreement signing occasion.
